Success Coach

Position Summary

Are you a student centric professional who is passionate about helping students be their best? The Office of University Advising Initiatives and Student Success is seeking three (3) enthusiastic individuals to serve in the role as Success Coach. Success Coaches serve as mission-guided, student centric professionals who serve as the primary contact to first-year students to help navigate academic, vocational, social and wellness journeys while promoting belonging, agency and engagement in and outside the classroom. This position will also play a pivotal role in helping the institution to achieve its Marianist vision of education, retention and graduation goals. This position will report to the Director of University Advising Initiatives and Student Success (Academic Affairs & Learning Initiatives) with additional accountability to the Dean of Students Office (Student Development)

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university

At least three years of experience post bachelor’s degree attainment working with college-aged students or HS college prep work with Juniors and Seniors

Strong interpersonal skills

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Experience maintaining discretion and confidentiality of sensitive student information

Ability to collaborate across organizations

Ability to work with a diverse group of students, faculty and staff

Experience with Microsoft Office Suite

Ability to work some nights and weekends for rotation of support services

Preferred Qualifications

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

Completion of Master’s Degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, Counseling, social work or similar discipline

Three or more years of experience post bachelor’s degree attainment working with college-aged students

Experience communicating knowledge of current student development best practices or challenges and common support structures for college students

Demonstrated knowledge of legal issues, current trends and best practices that inform case management in higher education

Demonstrated analytical thinking to select and interpret guidelines, and address problems of considerable difficulty

Commitment to delivering equitable and culturally appropriate holistic student support

Familiarity with and value for Catholic Higher Education

Knowledge of student development theory and academic advising methods, with ability to apply to provide holistic support to students

Ability to demonstrate a commitment to the distinctive characteristics of Marianist universities
