POWER Engineers, Inc. is currently seeking a Substation Project Engineer to work out of one of our Southeastern US office locations (Orlando, FL, Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Pensacola, FL, Trussville, AL, or Atlanta, GA). Our team believes in serving our clients in all their power delivery needs with honesty and integrity. Training will be provided!
Roles And Responsibilities
As a Substation Project Engineer, you’ll be entrusted with advocating for our clients, nurturing current connections, and creating new ones. Your role will consist of spearheading substation design projects for electric cooperative and municipal clients while embodying our commitment to serving local public power utilities. The ideal candidate will assume responsibility for overseeing and executing projects within our department, which extends beyond substations to encompass transmission, distribution, and related studies. This position offers the chance to expand your leadership and project management skills across various utility design domains.

- Cultivate client relationships and spearhead project initiatives as a seller-doer
- Take the helm on substation projects while providing guidance and support to junior engineers and designers.
- Exhibit eagerness to expand expertise beyond substations into other design disciplines
- Formulate project scope documents, establish budgets, and create and maintain schedules.
- Chair clients project meetings and facilitate effective communication between clients, managers, and internal teams to ensure project alignment with requirements, scope and schedule.
- Address client inquiries spanning various technical areas and appropriately manage client expectations.
- Honesty and integrity.

- Willingness to share successes with the project team.
- Strong command of the English language.
- Strong written and oral communication skills in order to communicate professionally with internal team members and clients.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to client sites or conferences.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, or engineering technology
- Five (5) + years of experience in substation design
- A valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
- Two (2) + years of experience leading engineering project teams
- Registered Professional Engineer
- Experience with preparing project work scope documents, schedules, budgets, and sequence of work for construction of projects
- Experience performing substation, transmission and/or distribution design for electric cooperatives
