Position Summary

The Department of Pediatrics at Columbia University Irving Medical Center is looking for a part-time Student Research Worker for one year. The Student Research Worker will report to the Department of Pediatric’s Residency Program Director and work closely with the pediatrics department education faculty. As a Student Research Worker within our education department, the role will be to support a project designed to create an innovative assessment tool for training in health equity. This project will be centered on the longitudinal mapping of our curriculum to entrustable professional activities (EPAs) to milestone competencies. Specifically, we will evaluate how effectively we train residents to use population health strategies and quality improvement methods to promote health and address racism, discrimination, and other contributors to inequities among pediatric populations.

Responsibilities

  • Attend research training and consultation meetings.
  • Participate in multi-site/multi-team meetings virtually and in person.
  • Track online study data.
  • Coordinate collection of research data submitted by study families and pediatricians on hand-held tablets.
  • Assist with cleaning and coordinating study data for data analysis.
  • Assist with preparing IRB application.
  • Coordination of key stakeholder interviews and analysis.
  • Survey design and analysis, and Qualtrics data analysis.
  • Performs related duties & responsibilities as assigned/requested.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Graduate or Equivalency required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in social science.
  • Strong interpersonal communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a cohesive team, and also to work independently as needed.
