Job Description:

The Center for Student Involvement (CSI) is the hub for the student experience at American University. CSI facilitates leadership development, organizational advising, and programs that help foster a sense of belonging for the next generation of changemakers. Our office is home to Student Government, Student Activities Council, Student Media, Student Organizations, Fraternity & Sorority Life and the Graduate Leadership Council.

Responsibilities

The Student Clubs Graduate Student Assistant for the Center for Student Involvement reports to the Assistant Director for Student Involvement and facilitates student leadership, involvement, and engagement opportunities. This position provides advising and leadership development for recognized undergraduate and graduate student organizations and co-advises the American University Club Council (AUCC). The position's responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide support for undergraduate and graduate student organizations with club development, transition, and event planning.
  • Hold bi-weekly check ins with AUCC Club Consultants and attend AUCC team meetings.
  • Facilitate monthly leadership development trainings.
  • Manage Engage event submissions and AUCC newsletters.
  • Attend weekly CSI staff meetings and community-wide programs.
  • Assist with Center for Student Involvement events including Involvement Fairs, Late Night and Weekend programming, some evenings and weekends required.

Compensation

  • $17.50-$18.50 per hour.

Education And Experience Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Experience in and/or working with student organizations and leadership development.
  • Able to work beginning August 12, 2024.
