JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State Student Leadership & Involvement is seeking applicants for the Student Engagement Specialist of Student Organizations position. The successful applicant will join a team of professionals, graduate assistants, and undergraduate staff and can demonstrate a commitment to fostering exploration, community engagement, and the development of students.

Reporting to the Associate Director for Student Organizations, the Specialist is responsible for:

  • administering student organization recognition processes through OrgCentral (Penn State’s Anthology Engage platform)
  • facilitating and developing student leadership training
  • hosting annual awards programs for the +1000 recognized student organizations at Penn State
  • serve as an event consultant and contract advisor to student organizations
  • co-advise UPAC (student org funding committee)
  • supervise a small team of Student Org Consultant undergrads

The ability to work effectively with staff and students from diverse backgrounds and experiences is critical to the success of the Student Leadership & Involvement team and this role. The successful candidate must demonstrate an understanding of student development, communicate effectively, and have the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.

Education and Experience:

  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree or higher and 3 years of related experience.
  • 2 years of related graduate assistantship qualifies as equivalent 1+ years of work equivalency

This position may require that you operate a motor vehicle as part of your job duties. A valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check may be required in addition to standard background checks. A willingness and ability to work flexible hours to support occasional night and weekend activities is required.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$46,400.00 - $67,300.00

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR). The ASR includes crime statistics and institutional policies concerning campus security, such as those concerning alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault, and other matters.
