Responsibilities
The student intern serves as primary point of contact for patients and others utilizing the services of the Imaging areas within Radiology. The student intern is responsible for Imaging check in and check out functions of Imaging. This includes gathering pertinent patient information, orders, clinical histories, scheduling, data input for the Radiology Information System (Radiant) and IHIS. Other responsibilities include:
Escorting patients to and from patient unit and all areas within radiology
Transporting patients to other areas of the hospital as needed.
Meets and greets patients at reception areas, assuring patient demographic and account information are correct in the IHIS system.
Assists in observing patients while in the radiology area.
Follow-up patient appointment and reminders.
Assists technologists with patients for patient examinations including portable exams.
Reviews radiology consults for completeness and enters proper information into IHIS.
Ensures patient confidentiality and proper documentation and record keeping.
Maintains professional relationships with co-workers and other hospital employees.
Must be able to effectively and efficiently work as a team member.
Periodically evaluates own service delivery.
Other duties as required.
Minimum Required Qualifications
High School Graduate or equivalency required; must be enrolled in a degree-granting program.
