Job Summary:

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Annual Giving for Philanthropy Education, the Student Donor Experience Officer and Phonathon Coordinator will assist the university in cultivating a culture of philanthropy by executing a strategy to cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of donors and by training and managing student fundraisers to cultivate, solicit, and steward donors. The coordinator is expected to utilize multiple communication channels for all required work.

Job Responsibilities:

20%-- Student Fundraiser Management. Recruit, hire, train, and coach an established number of Student Donor Experience Officers (SDXOs) to cultivate, solicit, and steward, a predefined portfolio of alumni donors; Recruit, hire, train and coach an established number of student Phonathon Ambassadors to conduct mass outreach to alumni and parent donors.

50%-- Fundraising Project Management. Work with Assistant Director to develop and execute a highly personalized, high touch communication plan to meet established fundraising goals for alumni outreach efforts through SDXO work; Work with Assistant Director and/or University Communications to create communication materials, presentations, and collateral material needed to ensure SDXOs and student Phonathon Ambassadors successfully close gifts; Work with Assistant Director and/or Development Systems team, as needed, to obtain lists for SDXO portfolios and mass outreach efforts and to share demographic update reports; Ensure all actions are entered into alumni database in a timely manner; Work with Annual Giving team on special calling projects for Giving Days, Calendar Year-end, and Fiscal Year-end outreach.

20%-- Portfolio Management. Execute an established communications cadence through calls, videos, emails, and social media channels to cultivate, solicit, and steward a predefined portfolio of constituents through established cadence(s); Ensure all actions, informational updates, and interests are entered into alumni database in a timely manner; Collaborate with Assistant Director, Director of Annual Giving, and/or Director of Prospect Development to transition identified donors for additional prospect management to create a pipeline; Provide exemplary customer service to alumni.

10% - Performs other duties as assigned. Relationships:

  • Daily contact with members of own work unit and immediate supervisor, alumni donors, and staff to plan and coordinate work. Maintain the highest level of professionalism, customer service and discretion.
  • Frequent contact with alumni, faculty, staff, students, and parents to influence, motivate or persuade parties to obtain desired results.

Responsibility for Final Decisions:

  • Supervises others. Responsible for own work and work of those within organization.
  • Tasks involve multiple procedures with interrelated processes or steps. Work involves choosing the appropriate option or procedure to follow and applying established rules and procedures

Education/Skill Requirements:

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Strong interpersonal skills are necessary for interaction with students, alumni, parents and friends of all ages.
  • Ability to communicate well, both verbally and in written form, is required for ease of correspondence. Self-confidence, strong organizational skills, and effective time management skills are desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of computers is required.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize resources.

Education/Skill Requirements Preferred:

  • Volunteer and/or staff management experience
  • Event management experience

Work Conditions:

  • Work is performed under usual office conditions.
  • During the Academic Year, work schedule will include evening hours as to manage and supervise the Phonathon program. In addition, some work may occur on the weekends.
  • May require some travel.
