STRUCTURAL ENGINEER OR ENGINEER-IN-TRAINING (Hybrid)

As a reputable recruiting agency, we are currently seeking an experienced engineer or engineer-in-training (EIT) on behalf of our esteemed client. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of building and construction projects, including concrete, masonry, wood, steel, high seismic, and high wind load structures. As a valuable team member, you will collaborate with internal and external disciplines throughout the planning, design, and construction administration phases of various projects. Your responsibilities will also include performing inspections, conducting research, and executing technical discipline tasks to ensure strict adherence to relevant codes and standards.

**WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING**

Lead or participate in project design efforts, ensuring the completion of designs that conform to quality control and quality assurance procedures. You will determine Design Criteria using relevant codes and standards.

Manage multiple projects concurrently, demonstrating effective project management skills.

Generate detailed plans, construction documents, engineering calculations, contract specifications, bid documents, and technical reports. Additionally, review shop drawings and respond to RFIs as necessary.

Devise innovative approaches to address encountered challenges and obstacles.

Foster effective communication and coordination among internal and external disciplines, facilitating a clear understanding of project scope, deliverables, and client requirements.

Attend project meetings, conduct on-site investigations and assessments of existing buildings as necessary, and make occasional overnight travel arrangements.

Continuously enhance technical standards, design guidelines, practices, and procedures, while effectively communicating and explaining these improvements.

Mentor team members, promoting their continuous improvement and the sharing of best practices.

Assist with client relations, ensuring client satisfaction and maintaining strong professional relationships.

Fulfill other duties, responsibilities, and activities as required to ensure successful project delivery and efficient company operations.

**Job requirements**

What You’ll Bring

Hold a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (with a structural emphasis) or a related discipline.

Possess a minimum of 5 years of experience working in the field of structural engineering. Candidates must either be a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or hold an EIT or Engineering Intern (EI) certification. A PE license in Minnesota would be advantageous.

Demonstrate expertise in the design and analysis of complex structures, with a solid understanding and application of structural engineering principles, practices, and concepts.

Have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Revit, AutoCAD, and current structural engineering software such as RAM, RISA, ADAPT. Familiarity with Smartsheet, Unanet CRM by Cosential, and Deltek Ajera software would be beneficial.

Exhibit the ability to navigate and apply national, state, and local codes, as well as American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) standards, to overall project objectives and individual material designs.

Showcase proven personnel management skills, leadership qualities, and effective mentoring capabilities. Strong decision-making and interpersonal skills are essential.

Candidates holding an EIT or EI certification should be committed to completing The Principles and Practice of Engineering (PE) exam within a dedicated timeframe, as obtaining a PE license is crucial for career progression.

Possess a positive and professional attitude, with excellent verbal and written communication skills enabling effective collaboration with colleagues and clients, both in-person and virtually.
