Structural Designer (HGA-R)

The Structural Designer is a direct-hire position working for HGA at our office in either Ruston, LA or Shreveport, LA or The Woodlands, TX.

Structural Designer Position Summary

The Structural Designer performs a variety of structural drafting and design duties with minimal supervision. Directly involved in the development of 3D graphic modeling work. Prepares drawings in accordance with the appropriate drafting standards. Prepares drawings from a conceptual layout to detailed finished product. Position requires experience in producing structural steel and foundation drawings from general arrangements, vendor drawings and calculations and/or models.

Structural Designer Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Produce neat, accurate, and legible construction drawings packages according to company procedures and drafting standards with minimal supervision.
• Interpret general design information and calculations.
• Assumes responsibility for technical accuracy and constructability of finished designs.
• Capable of obtaining accurate field data with tape measure and using 3D Scanner.
• Able to model using point cloud information.
• Work with all disciplines and with minimal supervision.
  
  

Qualifications:STRUCTURAL DESIGNER EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or equivalent is required; technical school or college is preferred.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in civil/structural design and drafting with AutoCAD. Education Engineering Construction Technology Degree may substitute for 3-4 years of work experience.
• Proficient at AutoCAD/CADWorx/3D Modeling.
• Basic knowledge of civil engineering design principles and practices.
• Experience with a consulting engineering firm and completion of industrial projects including designing concrete and steel.
• Candidates should be located within daily commuting distance of Ruston, LA or The Woodlands, TX or Shreveport, LA.
  
  

Structural Designer Skills & Abilities

• Knowledge of structural engineering design and drafting principles and practices.
• Civil 3D knowledge is an asset.
