Job Summary:

The Strategic Sourcing Specialist will be responsible for all commodities supporting the division’s CS, FS, LCI and LUWA businesses in the Americas. She/he will develop the supply base for the associated commodities by selecting new suppliers and managing existing ones with regard to technical capabilities, delivery precision and quality standards. Working in a global supply team architecture, develop a localized supply base for the Americas business units and aggregating purchases across the different product groups. Must drive yearly cost reductions and negotiate terms and conditions. Candidates should have experience in sourcing both commodities and engineered metal-fabricated products. Reporting to the Procurement Manager, the position requires 5+ years-experience as a Strategic Purchaser. Skill in legal contract structuring and terms negotiation is required. Must have excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills. Able to travel domestic and international up to 25% of the time to perform supplier qualification and product quality checks.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Broaden supply base through identification and qualification of new vendors, including “off-shore”
  • Develop, document and implement supplier/commodity strategies encompassing price, business and capacity issues.
  • Develop strategies and tactics to optimize contract negotiation with suppliers.
  • Obtain agreements on pricing, delivery and other terms.
  • Resolve contract differences/disputes with suppliers.
  • Obtain legal review and approval of contracts.
  • Manage the flow of raw materials and finished goods globally through a well-developed logistics strategy.
  • Implement operational metrics and track deflation, delivery and quality.
  • Conduct visits with suppliers to evaluate and analyze vendor capacity and performance.
  • Develop and implement cost reduction/cost avoidance programs.
  • Other duties as determined appropriate for the position.

Qualifications

Your Experience & Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Five or more years of experience in relevant field.
  • Experience in sourcing organization supporting Engineered Solutions
  • Experience with new product development sourcing and finding local sources for existing products
  • Strong negotiating experience in a low volume, high mix environment
  • Must have a proven track record of extracting the best possible price and quality from external metal fabricators
  • CPM/CPSM certification is a plus

  • Significant levels of experience in sourcing, purchasing, domestic and international logistics
  • Experienced with metrics scorecard analysis
  • Skilled in contract structuring and terms negotiation
  • Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills
  • Ability to adapt and work in a fast-changing environment
  • Well organized and goal oriented
  • Ability to prioritize
  • Travel up to 25% of the time; domestic and international travel
