Stock Clerk / Replacement Truck Driver / Custodian

Position Title: Stock Clerk / Replacement Truck Driver / Custodian - Full-time, 12-month

Location: Reading High School Commissary

Classification: Teamsters

Reports To: Food Services Manager or designee

Position Rate: $21.93 per hour

Position Goal: Replaces on an as needed basis – Food Service Truck Driver / Stock Clerk / Custodian

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Other duties may be assigned.

The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to the following fundamental duties:

  • Replaces on an as-needed Food Service Truck Driver/Stock Clerk/Custodian.
  • Operates all vehicles and equipment related to Food Service.
  • Meets Delivery Schedules.
  • Receives and checks in orders from purveyors; checks prices and quantities before signing invoices.
  • Organizes and rotates stock.
  • Fills supply orders on a timely basis.
  • Inventories supplies (daily and monthly).
  • Requisitions supplies on a timely basis.
  • Monitors refrigerator/freezer temperatures.
  • Empties trash in the Commissary and Reading High School cafeteria.
  • Returns milk and juice from Reading High School Cafeteria to refrigerator.
  • Washes down garbage chutes in Reading High School Cafeteria daily.
  • Performs cleaning duties as assigned.
  • Assists Food Service Truck Drivers as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designee.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION: Schedules vacation, compensatory time, etc., not to Conflict with other Food Service Truck Driver/Stock Clerk/Custodians vacations, etc.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED). Detail oriented. Accuracy required. Ability demonstrated to drive manual transmission vehicle. Training in maintenance and custodial service equipment operation and repair preferred. Business school and/or computer training preferred. Ability to operate a fork lift.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Valid Pennsylvania Operator’s License.

Language Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and technical and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to communicate scope of work and plans of actions to management, building administrators, custodial and maintenance personnel.
  • Ability to complete work order forms, time sheets and other departmental forms.

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts utilizing addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to collect/compile information to determine appropriate course of action.
  • Ability to adapt to unforeseen field conditions.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

Other Skills And Abilities

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community.
  • Ability to speak clearly and concisely in oral and written communication.
  • Ability to operate district vehicles.
  • Ability to perform duties with awareness to all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; and talk or hear. The employee must be able to work from ladders and scaffolds. The employee must frequently move and/or lift up to 100 pounds such as materials and equipment. Ability to lift 100 pounds. Intermittently sits and stands as a result of continuously getting in and out of vehicles. Specific vision capabilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is required to hear conversations in noisy environments. The employee must be able to drive all district vehicles. The employee is responsible to provide for the safety and well being of those within the immediate vicinity of where the essential functions of the job are being performed.

Work involves exposure to unpleasant elements, extreme temperatures, disagreeable odors, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, loud noises, chemicals, etc. Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require the following extensive safety precautions, and may include the use of protective gear. Work is generally performed outdoors regardless of weather and subjects the employee to heat, cold, high humidity, rain, snow, wind and other forces of nature. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Position demands meeting deadlines and the ability to work overtime in order to meet reporting deadlines.
