Travelers’ Rest sits at the crossroads of natural and cultural history. Its 65 acres encompass the only archaeologically verified campsite of the Lewis and Clark Expedition, a gathering place used by the Séliš QÍispé and other tribes for millennia, and a pristine cottonwood habitat along the banks of Lolo Creek. Travelers’ Rest also sits at the crossroads of private support and public investment. Land purchased through grants and private donations became a Montana State Park 20 years ago. Today, Travelers’ Rest Connection supports Travelers’ Rest State Park through outreach, advocacy, and educational experiences connecting the past to the future.
