Minimum 3 years pastoral experience, including hospital experience
Ordination and endorsement by faith group
Minimum of 1 unit of Clinical Pastoral Education from an ACPE accredited center.
Excellent communication and pastoral/spiritual counseling skills.
Sensitivity to diverse religious and cultural practices and values.
Ability to work collegially within Spiritual Care Department.
Ability to function on an interdisciplinary health care team in the delivery of care.
Skill and knowledge in administering sacraments of Reconciliation and Anointing of the Sick, and leading worship
Ability to provide pastoral/spiritual care on an interfaith basis and articulate spiritual assessment of patients and families.
Skill in providing pastoral care for bereaved and grieving persons, and providing crisis ministry
Ability to be with very ill patients and distraught families.
Ability to function collegially in a multi-faith multi-cultural staff environment.
Ability to function effectively in crisis and under stress.
Capable of theological and spiritual reflections with persons.
Skills in articulating ethical and moral concerns of patients that arise from medical practice delivery of services to patients.
Ability to be organized, responsible and dependable.
Skill in relating well with students and other professionals
Ability to interact diplomatically with the public.
Ability to establish and maintain collaborative and cooperative working relationships with staff members, managers, volunteers, administrators, patients, families, and community religious leaders.
Openness and interest in learning new skills and abilities in hospital ministry.
Flexibility, genuineness, sensitivity, and willingness to assist in other areas of spiritual/pastoral care duties.
