Staff Accountant

Position Summary: The Staff Accountant works directly under the supervision of the Assistant Controller to prepare accounting for daily transactional activity for one of the consolidated company’s brands (American Global Logistics) and ensure transactions are correctly entered into internal systems. The Staff Accountant is also responsible for ensuring that balance sheets are regularly reconciled and applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information, prepare month-end reconciliations and workpapers, and prepare financial reports.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ensures Accounts Receivable tasks are completed in a timely and efficient manner; Reviews AR tasks as completed by Staff Accountant
• Ensures Accounts Payable tasks are completed in a timely and efficient manner; Reviews AP tasks as completed by Staff Accountant
• Performs and reviews weekly AP agings and AP pay runs to be approved by Controller
• Performs and reviews daily cash forecast and liquidity / working capital needs
• Analyzes information and options by developing spreadsheet reports; verifying information.
• Prepares general ledger entries by maintaining records and files.
• Develops and implements accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures; recommending changes.
• Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
• Provides accounting support for audits and management ad hoc reports by reviewing financial information; converting data to general ledger system; obtaining supplementary information for preparing financial statements.
• Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
• Assists with additional Accounting and Finance projects as necessary.

Education/Experience:

Associate degree (A.A.) in Accounting or related field. Minimum of one (1) year of experience required.
