Staff Accountant
This is a dynamic hybrid role that requires your presence in our Charlotte office for three days a week. As you step into the position of Staff Accountant, you'll report directly to the Accounting Manager. In this role, your focus will be on overseeing the daily and monthly accounting activities across all our subsidiaries. This encompasses a range of accounts, from cash and prepaids to deposits, intangibles, inventory, accounts payable, and accruals. You'll also be responsible for preparing monthly variance analysis for various income statement accounts, as well as managing key accounting functions related to both accounts payable and accounts receivable.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Skillfully manage the daily accounting transactions spanning all our subsidiaries.
- Handle customer payment deposits with precision.
- Act as a backup for our accounts payable processes.
- Craft accurate journal entries with comprehensive supporting calculations for various balance sheet accounts.
- Prepare meticulous account reconciliations for a variety of balance sheet accounts.
- Undertake necessary research to determine the appropriate accounting treatment for different transactions or vendor bills.
- Conduct thorough analyses and document month-over-month variances for various income statement accounts.
- Compile and file monthly and quarterly sales tax returns.
- Establish and reinforce impeccable accounting methods, policies, and principles.
- Collaborate closely with the business to design and implement efficient processes while ensuring adequate controls.
- Play a pivotal role in constructing the essential reports required for continuous business monitoring and measurement.
- Contribute to ad hoc projects aimed at improving data quality, streamlining and automating account reconciliations and reports.
- Provide crucial support in completing annual audits and tax filings.
- Offer insightful recommendations for process and internal control enhancements.
- Tackle other assigned duties as dictated by evolving business needs.
Requirements:
- You hold a BS degree in Accounting.
- You bring a minimum of 1-2 years of relevant accounting experience.
- You're highly proficient in MS Office, accounting software, and databases (knowledge of NetSuite systems is a plus).
- You possess the ability to efficiently manipulate large volumes of data, particularly excelling in MS Excel.
- Your knack for data analysis helps you meticulously assess accuracy and completeness.
- You've demonstrated your adeptness in bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations.
- Your exceptional attention to detail and accuracy sets you apart.
- Being a proactive self-starter, you're resourceful and thrive in independent work settings.
- Your communication skills, both written and verbal, are strong and effective.
- You're a master of time management and excel in organizational skills.
