Sr OEM Relationship Specialist

Job Summary

Maintain and strengthen influential relationships with targeted OEMs, Industry bodies and Test Houses in support of the Strategic Business Unit (SBU) strategy. Position Afton as the first call for advice, consultation and partnership opportunities regarding new technology & developments, enabling Afton to extract demonstrable commercial value from these relationships (e.g. factory fill positions, service fill approvals).

Responsibilities

  • Under limited guidance of an OEM Relationship Manager/Director, contribute to the development of an OEM strategy that will involve a Strategic Account Plan for targeted OEMs.
  • Represent Afton’s interests with industry bodies and targeted OEM’s by taking steps to establish Afton as industry leaders and influencing industry practice and OEM lubricant specifications.
  • Cultivate trusted relationships with a wide range of potential influencers & decision makers from different management levels within target OEM’s.
  • Participate actively in industry societies as directed to advance or maintain a position that is financially and/or technically favorable to Afton's technology.
  • Use industry and OEM knowledge to provide current OEM/industry technical intelligence to product steering groups and business teams.
  • Assist OEMs as directed in developing strategic goals that are compatible with current Afton products, services and future capabilities.
  • May assist in obtaining test sites and OEM hardware contributions for Afton test programs.

Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE MINIMUMS:

  • BS degree in science, business, engineering or related field
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in the lubricant, additive or related OEM industry preferred
  • OEM Account Management, Sales & Marketing, Customer Technical Service or similar experience preferred.

Skills/Abilities

  • Demonstrates knowledge of market trends and OEM business environment
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of the lubricant/additive industry and basic knowledge of additive chemistry
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of emissions standards and control systems
  • Demonstrates basic understanding of internal combustion engines, automotive powertrain hardware, industrial machines & hardware
  • Able to develop and maintain effective organizational relationships
  • Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills
  • Able to effectively handle more than one project at a time
  • Able to travel as required
