Sr Mgr Employee Relations

Job Description

This position will develop and implement the strategic direction for employee relations and oversee daily operations for the function. They will support positive employee engagement by providing guidance and recommendations to respond to and resolve employee concerns and accommodation requests. In addition to actively managing day-to-day employee relations cases and investigations, this role will contribute to the implementation and proactive, ongoing review of best practices for responding to employee relations concerns.

  • Independently conduct investigations in a prompt, thorough, and impartial manner and gather information regarding Commerce employee relations matters such as workplace issues, discrimination allegations, employee disputes and other concerns.
  • Handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately, with tact and discretion.
  • Leverage and utilize data, analytics and anecdotal observations to identify emerging trends at both a macro and micro level; partner closely with Legal to provide a complete picture of overall employee and manager issues to People team.
  • Establish and adhere to agreed upon service level agreements with key stakeholders.
  • Own the investigation of reports submitted to the Fanatics Compliance Helpline by or regarding Commerce employees. Partner with People leaders, Legal and the business to gather information and provide guidance to close out cases in a timely manner.
  • Provide guidance and support on escalated cases and advise on recommendations and actions, effectively addressing difficult situations with executive savvy. Take decisive and well-rounded action in high-pressure situations, consulting with key stakeholders where appropriate.
  • Support consistent policy interpretation and application of HR policies. Provide recommendation on policy updates to increase understanding and to reduce exceptions.
  • Develop training, resources, tools and standards for employee relations and conduct appropriate training for managers and employees in overall manager best practices and performance improvement concepts in alignment with our company’s core values, practices, and processes.
  • Ensure compliance and effective application of company policies and procedures, as well as federal and state regulations and laws.
  • Provide employee relation trend data and actionable feedback and recommendations to Legal and the People Business Partner team to reduce overall risk in the organization.
  • Conduct employee exit interviews, summarize findings, and discuss trends and concerns with respective stakeholders.
  • Gather employee relations metrics and trend analysis with proactive recommendations on policies and programs to address cases, trends, and/or concept.
  • Help promote knowledge, understanding, and compliance with company policy and relevant employment laws through proactive coaching and training for managers and employees alike.
  • Take a broad view of the problem, looking at all alternatives and assess impact on other groups before applying a solution.
  • Ability to identify and manage risk. Determine contingency plans appropriately.
  • Liaise and partner with Legal on high level, high risk, or highly complex issues and their resolution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience
  • 6+ years of experience in Human Resources, particularly focused on employee relations
  • 3+ years of experience responding to employee relations concerns, conducting and documenting investigations
  • Familiarity with employment laws within the US
  • Experience managing global employee relations issues is a plus
  • An objective and approachable style, with an ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to manage priorities and respond with a sense of urgency
  • Experience effectively managing conflict
  • Strong problem solving and time management skills
  • Demonstrates excellent follow-through skills
  • Bi-lingual in English/Spanish is a plus
