GSD&M may be searching for a Senior Media Planner to join our growing team. The ideal candidate has worked in planning across multiple disciplines with some combination of experience in national/local broadcast, Print, OOH, Digital and/or Social. They have a fundamental knowledge of the digital process and can speak to digital on a strategic and media mix level. They also have strong communication skills. The Senior Media Planner is accountable for the day to day needs of their clients, while ultimately working up to assist their Supervisors. They should have experience in mentoring a Planner(s) or Assistant Media Planner(s) and have received favorable feedback from those they mentor.

The Senior Media Planner is responsible for the development of media plan recommendations and may work on multiple teams. They report to a Media Supervisor or Associate Media Director for each team where they receive mentorship, guidance, and direction to create and implement plans which help drive our clients’ business forward.

They assist their supervisor in the planning and execution of more complex campaigns and initiatives to help fully build upon their potential and gain experience in new areas. They think strategically by looking at trends, competitive, client goals and objectives, and by having a good understanding of the strategic business insights and creative idea.

Senior Media Planners work closely with other departments in the agency to ensure that communication is in constant flow and that all responsible parties are coordinating to meet the needs of our clients. They actively lead internal training sessions as well as meetings with external partners to build their knowledge base and establish a more comprehensive understanding of the overall media landscape. They are also regularly responsible for maintaining client documents, meeting strict deadlines, and the training of other support staff.

The Job

  • Possess an advanced knowledge of multiple media, with a fundamental knowledge of the digital process. Growth opportunities with ongoing mentorship will be available to increase their proficiency across all these areas.
  • Collaborate with supervisors and other team members to develop and analyze the campaign target, develop campaign strategy, conduct an RFP process, present, and upon client approval secure, execute, and report on media campaigns.
  • Create and oversee the day-to-day stewardship of these campaigns and supporting elements such as flowcharts, budget summaries, plan summaries, status reports, pacing reports, and digital performance reports.
  • Research competitive tracking and provide client specific analysis.
  • Oversee point of view (POV) papers to help evaluate opportunities for clients and develop thought leadership papers and presentations for internal and external audiences.
  • Lead actionable audience development by leveraging audience insight tools for people-first audience strategy.

Requirements

The Ideal Candidate possesses:

  • Minimum of 4 years of total media planning experience
  • Full-service agency experience preferred, but not required.
  • One year of experience supervising the direct work of assistant media planner(s)
  • Ability to manage up, keeping supervisors and directors informed.
  • Proficiency in developing compelling stories from data inputs and confidently presenting them to clients.
  • Ability to distill complex ideas into comprehensible pieces while pulling insights from large sets of data.
  • Proven ability to think critically, analyze performance and opportunities, and find unconventional solutions.
  • Proactive and curious in finding ways to bring new solutions forward to educate clients and the agency.
  • Experience planning branding and performance media campaigns including:
    • Digital Specific: Site-direct, Programmatic, Paid Search, Social and other biddable media placements (CPM, CPCV & CPA)
    • Other channels: Video (national/local linear, CTV), Audio (terrestrial radio & streaming), print, sponsorships, OOH etc.
  • Specific Skills required:
    • Usage of digital tools (or other related products): DV360, CM360, Prisma, comScore, Google Analytics (plus experience with verification partners – Moat, IAS, DoubleVerify)
    • Usage of planning tools (or other related products): MRI-Simmons/Scarborough, Kantar Advertising Insights, Claritas 360, Reach/Frequency tools, SQAD, SRDS
    • Proficiency with V-Lookups & Pivot Tables
