Job Summary:

The Senior Manager of Materials Management will lead the interfacility logistics and material flow, external logistics management, implementation of operating system fundamentals, and the inventory analytics team/cycle count program. The role also involves implementing key business processes and systems functionality improvements. The Senior Manager will work closely with cross-functional leaders and peers in operations and supply chain to ensure manufacturing operations have the right parts at the right time, optimizing capital investment and material overhead.

Duties and Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

  • Lead internal and external logistics teams, managing internal logistics fleet and external logistics contracts.
  • Oversee the Corporate Cycle Count Program, ensuring compliance with accounting policies related to production inventory accuracy and audit-ability.
  • Manage metrics and actions regarding aging exception transactions including receiving inspection (RII), negative inventory, and non-nettable inventory.
  • Identify and resolve material constraints including space, equipment, and labor.
  • Manage departmental budget performance.
  • Drive continuous process improvement and efficiency, challenging existing processes when favorable alternatives are available.
  • Implement kanban material pull processes throughout the internal supply chain and promote kanban processes with external suppliers.
  • Analyze and report key performance indicators such as material delivery performance, supplier conformance, material dwell time, and inventory turns.
  • Develop efficient material handling processes to improve material receiving operations, including the use of Advance Ship Notices (ASNs), 3-way match, and one-piece flow.
  • Implement strategic initiatives and develop succession planning for the department.
  • Document and develop business processes for the area.

Qualifications:

  • Education & Experience:
  • BS/BA degree in Business or Supply Chain required, master’s degree preferred.
  • 10-15 years of related experience with a minimum of 3-5 years of leadership experience or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in operations, inventory management, Materials Requirements Planning (MRP), and lean manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with visual management systems and one-piece flow processes.
  • Experience and leadership in design/development and implementation of ERP/MRP systems.
  • Experience and leadership in design/development and implementation of warehouse/distribution and logistics systems.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • APICS Certification in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) required or hiring commitment to obtain within the first 18 months of employment.
  • Experience in establishing Kanban inventory management processes.
  • Strong presentation skills and business acumen with the ability to concisely communicate at all levels within the organization and externally.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, proven leadership ability, and the ability to manage the requirements of others.
  • Data access/retrieval skills with extensive experience in data analysis and manipulation using MS Excel, MS PowerBI, MS Access, and other tools as provided.
