Sr. IT Manager, On-Prem Infrastructure

One of our clients in the Sterling, IL area is looking to add a Sr. Manager of On-Prem IT Infrastructure. This leader will take on a crucial role in driving innovation, optimizing performance, and ensuring the security and scalability of this client’s cloud infrastructure.

Location: Sterling, IL (onsite twice per week)

Role & Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive On-premises strategy aligned with organizational goals.
• Ensure administrative and technical compliance to infrastructure and security standards and policies.
• Provide strategic direction for the adoption of emerging On-premises technologies to enhance business operations.
• Stay up to date with new technologies and best practices, to assure operational reliability, productivity, scalability, and security compliance.
• Team Management
• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of On-premises engineers and administrators.
• Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the team.
• Infrastructure Design, Implementation, Management & Support
• Architect, design, and implement scalable and resilient On-premises infrastructure solutions.
• Ensure the efficient utilization of on-premises resources and optimize costs.
• Monitor and report on on-premises infrastructure availability, reliability, fault tolerance.
• Evaluate, configure, monitor and manage switching, routing, wireless and firewalling technologies.
• Monitor and manage warehousing and shipping technologies, such as label printers, weigh stations and third party ship management software.
• Develop service agreements and performance metrics for on-premises IT services.
• Identify opportunities for cost savings and service improvements through the effective management of services, solutions, technologies, and vendors.
• Consolidate technologies, centralize technology management, and simplify infrastructure architecture.
• Perform other related tasks and assignments, as required.
• Implement and enforce security best practices for On-premises environments.
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations and company policies.
• Performance Monitoring & Optimization
• Implement monitoring and alerting systems for proactive issue identification and resolution.
• Continuously optimize and fine-tune On-premises infrastructure for optimal performance.
• Vendor Management
• Collaborate with On-premises service providers and manage vendor relationships.
• Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools to enhance On-premises capabilities.
• Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity
• Develop and maintain robust disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
• Conduct regular drills and assessments to ensure preparedness.
• Documentation & Training
• Maintain comprehensive documentation for all On-premises infrastructure components.
• Provide training and knowledge-sharing sessions for team members.

Qualifications

• At least 7 years of IT leadership experience, with a hands-on technical experience and On-premises infrastructure development and support.
• Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or a related field.
• Exceptional collaboration, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Organized, detail-oriented, and capable of handling multiple tasks and priorities.
• Proficient in presenting to a variety of stakeholders.
• Strong writing, critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• High technical aptitude and a strong commitment to staying informed of current trends.
