How we'll deliver success:

We’re growing and looking to add a Senior Director of Strategic Partnerships to the GTM team at Shippo. You will own and lead some of our most valuable and strategic partnerships, in which you will lead all executive-level partner management, manage complex programs, establish and run partnership governance, and develop new initiatives to achieve shared goals and revenue objectives. You will play a pivotal role in expanding the company's network, enhancing its offerings, and driving revenue growth through collaborative initiatives. This position requires exceptional leadership, communication, and negotiation skills, as well as a strategic mindset to identify and capitalize on partnership opportunities.

Shipping and handling responsibilities:

Partnership Management:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for existing partners, fostering strong relationships and ensuring mutual success
  • Develop and implement strategies to maximize the value of partnerships, including joint tech roadmap, co-marketing opportunities where feasible
  • Monitor partnership performance, track key metrics, and identify areas for improvement or expansion
  • Develop partnership & product strategies to negotiate favorable commercials and business terms on renewals/ new agreements
  • Provide excellent partner service, research, and market analysis to resolve technical, operational and financial challenges with partners and liaise with Carriers to solve partner’s business problems
  • Analyze performance and present findings to clients, highlighting opportunities or introducing incremental programs
  • Contribute data-driven insights to support recommendations and ensure internal tracking pipelines are current


Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with internal teams, including product, engineering, marketing and legal, to align partnership activities with broader business objectives
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration between internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure seamless execution of partnership strategies
  • Provide guidance and support to cross-functional teams involved in partnership-related initiatives


Leadership and Team Development:

  • Build and lead a high-performing partnerships team, providing mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment that encourages creativity, innovation, and continuous improvement


Partnership Strategy:

  • Develop comprehensive partnership strategies with Tier 1, e-commerce partners using excellent business judgment and planning
  • Engage with partners to understand opportunities for operational improvement, and liaise with our product team to bring those improvements to life
  • Collaborate with senior management to define partnership objectives aligned with overall business goals
  • Develop comprehensive partnership strategies to drive business growth and enhance the company's market position


Risk Management and Compliance:

  • Evaluate potential risks associated with partnerships and develop strategies to mitigate them
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, including contract negotiation, data privacy, and other compliance risks


Do you tick the boxes?

  • 12+ years of work experience in strategic partnerships, account management, or business development in e-commerce platforms or fulfillment /software/SaaS industry
  • Experience hiring, managing, and retaining a highly functional partner management team
  • Experience working with cross-functional stakeholders through account management, product management, program management and business development engagements
  • You possess strong relationship-building skills and are apt to see mutually beneficial opportunities with partners in order to best represent our users, products, and programs
  • You are technically oriented and understand APIs
  • You are entrepreneurial and have a strong ownership mindset.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience

Our Compensation Shippolicy:

Here at Shippo, we believe compensation is a custom experience and we are committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The standard base + variable pay range for this role is min $233k to a max $315k annual. We tend to anchor our pay in the middle of this range ($274k mid) with most offers that we make. Since we are focused on hiring Shippos Everywhere, we have 2 US pay ranges, a standard compensation range (as noted above) for the majority of the US and a standard +1 compensation range for those who live in areas where the cost of labor is higher, such as NYC and California.

The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: financial budgets, work experience, training, transferable skills, business needs, and market value. The base pay salary ranges are subject to change and may be modified in the future. Total compensation for this role will include, equity, medical, dental, vision and other benefits noted in our Shippos “package” section.

Shippos in the wild:

Our people, much like the packages we help ship, are all over the world. This means, through our remote-first program, “Shippos Everywhere”, our roles can be based anywhere in the US with the exception of Delaware, Nevada, Ohio, Oregon, Hawaii, New Mexico and West Virginia and many roles can be based internationally.
