Williams College, a member of NCAA Division III’s NESCAC conference, is excited to announce two new positions for Senior Associate Athletics Directors. These positions are full-time, 12-month positions reporting to the Director of Athletics, PE and Recreation. Each role assists and supports the strategic leadership and administration of all 32 varsity sports programs including direct oversight of 10-12 select varsity sports programs. This position serves as a member of the department’s sport administrator team that is committed to the core values of Williams and Williams Athletics.

Sport oversight responsibilities and duties for selected varsity sports teams include but are not limited to providing leadership, directing and establishing meetings with coaching staffs, performance feedback of head coaches, scheduling, budget development and oversight, strategic planning, traveling with teams and attending practices and competitions, and serving as the primary liaison between the support staff within the department’s internal operations and coaches.

Responsibilities

One position will serve as the Compliance Coordinator for the entire department in accordance with National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC), New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) and College guidelines. Providing compliance education to the department, staying current on all regulations, maintaining all important records and creating all required compliance reports.

The other will serve in a Recruitment Management role, tasked with primary communication with the designated admissions office point person. This position will be responsible for tracking, organizing, and analyzing admissions data to best support coaches in their recruitment of student athletes and help the department better understand recruitment trends over time.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, Master’s preferred
  • 5 or more years of athletics administrative experience, preferably including sport oversight and/or collegiate coaching experience.
  • Proven leadership and management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for constructive interaction with associates, assistants, coaches, department staff, student-athletes, administrators, and faculty.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion in sensitive situations and work effectively in a fast-paced and complex work environment.
  • Demonstrated success engaging and building collaborative relationships with various stakeholders, including coaches, student-athletes, faculty, staff, campus, and corporate partners, donors, and community members.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.
  • Working knowledge of NCAA rules.
