Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Accounting and Financial Analyst to join our team. The Analyst role reports directly to the COO and will play a critical role in developing our accounting procedures. providing financial insights, and projections to support strategic decision-making processes. This role involves assisting in the preparation of financial statements, maintaining the general ledger, and ensuring the accuracy of financial records. The ideal candidate has a blend of strong analytical skills, financial acumen, detail-oriented, with a strong foundation in accounting principles and a passion for contributing to the financial efficiency of a growing, women-led fashion brand.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting, Budgeting and Forecasting
Responsible for the development and ongoing management of our weekly, monthly, and annual accounting procedures
Assist in the development of annual budgets forecasts, and long-range financial plans including sales, gross profit, operating expenses, administrative expenses and capital expenditures
Conduct reconciliation of bank accounts and balance sheet accounts.
Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for accounting functions.
Prepare, transact and document all wire transfers and ACH payments/check transactions utilizing in accordance with established property policies and procedures
Engage in additional accounting-related tasks as needed
Data Management, Reporting, and Monthly Close
Maintain and improve KPI tracking databases and 13-week cash flow and systems for accuracy and efficiency
Lead in the development and management of new reporting and analysis tools for performance monitoring
Complete month-end closing activities, including account reconciliations and variance analysis ensuring books and records are accurately maintained
Compile, validate and summarize expense information for reporting to business units
Ensure comprehensive compliance with US GAAP across all areas of financial reporting and accounting
Business Performance Analysis
Analyze key business drivers and operational metrics
Provide insights and recommendations to improve business performance
Identify trends, risks, and opportunities to enhance profitability
Perform ad hoc and decision-support analysis as requested by management
Cross-functional Collaboration
Work closely with field operations, merchandising, and E-commerce management to gather information and support financial initiatives
Communicate financial concepts and results to non-financial stakeholders
Participate in cross-functional projects to drive financial and operational efficiency and effectiveness
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
MBA or relevant professional certification (e.g., CFA, CPA) is a plus but not required
Experience:
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in accounting, financial planning, and analysis or related field
Experience with financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting
Skills:
Strong analytical and quantitative skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Advanced proficiency in Excel, and financial planning software
Solid understanding of and ability to apply generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
Experience with Shopify and software conversion is a plus
