The SQL Developer will design, develop, and maintain SQL databases ensuring their performance, availability, and security.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Optimize database systems for SQL performance and scalability, tuning and query optimization specifically with MySQL on Amazon Aurora RDS
• Deploy SQL as Code including schema changes and data migrations, for example, with versioned DB scripts, Redgate SQL Compare, Liquibase, or similar tooling
• Troubleshoot and deep dive into SQL query execution plans
• Write and troubleshoot complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and triggers.
• Refactor, test and optimize complex SQL queries
• Responsible for everything in database engineering, from writing SQL queries to knowing database internals and optimizing hardware and network attributes for RDS.
• Learn, coach, and share knowledge and skills with other Trek10 team members
• Lead re-platforming and refactoring efforts for existing systems
• Own the implementation of stories and other engineering of advanced cloud work for clients
• Perform research and documentation for problems and potential solutions
• Be a technical team advocate, ensuring clear direction and efficient execution
• Hands-on involvement in the development of projects. Enforces standards, procedures, and methodologies for the software development life cycle.
• Participate in cross-functional implementation teams to deliver solutions to clients
• Prepare work for team members of varying levels of experience, defining stories and task type work
• Contribute to internal IP and open source development
• Participate in delivery efforts using Agile or other work methodologies
• Build relationships with vendors and partners
• Engage with clients including presentations, technical decisions, and education opportunities
• Learn, research, and stay up to date on best practices and evolutionary capability in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud
• Share knowledge and skills with other Trek10 team members and client teams
• Write cool blog posts, do talks at community events, help us achieve additional certifications in the AWS Partner Community, help our clients solve all sorts of problems
• Occasional travel may be required to meet stakeholders, kick off new projects, attend conferences, and attend company functions.

Required Qualifications

• 6+ years of general IT experience (programming, hardware, software, etc)
• 3+ years of experience with Amazon Web Services
• 3+ years experience with AWS Cloud database services including Aurora RDS Native patterns with services like AWS Lambda
• 1+ year code-defined infrastructure experience
• 1+ Continuous Integration and Deliver (CI/CD) experience
• Have worked with Agile Project Management or other project management work methodologies.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• AWS Associate and/or Professional Level Certification
• 3 years experience architecting and building scalable, automated infrastructure
• 3+ years of database query development utilizing MySQL, SQL dialect and Microsoft T-SQL
• In-depth knowledge of indexes, query instrumentation and execution time improvement
• Advanced level experience developing shell scripts in large-scale enterprise database environments
• Familiarity with application level programming languages desirable, such as Python, Node.js, C# or Java. , Node.js
• Intermediate experience building scalable, automated infrastructure
• Intermediate experience working in a consultative, client-facing consulting role
• Able to demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrated documentation and presentation skills
