Spokane Service Team - Crew member

The mission of the Spokane Service Team (SST) is to create or support community projects, which benefit the greater Spokane area, while providing education, training and service opportunities for young people. Participants complete low-income housing and remodel projects. Team-based crew with some construction experience required and additional training provided.

Member Duties :

  • Attend all Spokane Service Team trainings and AmeriCorps days of service.
  • Model positive team attitude, work ethic, and behavior.
  • Be punctual and present each day.
  • Assist crew supervisor in preparing for and wrapping up each day.
  • Knowledge of best practices in construction and use of tools.
  • Demonstrate safety on site and some construction experience required.
  • Attend leadership development opportunities.
  • Represent AmeriCorps and NEWESD 101 in a positive and professional manner.
  • Typical Construction labor: o Set concrete forms o Roofing and siding o Rough and finish carpentry o Installation of sheet rock, taping and mudding o Tile setting o Painting o Install doors, casework, trim o Landscaping, installing irrigation systems o Digging holes, setting posts, hanging fence parts o Moving dirt and gravel o Demolition and removal of debris o Use of power and hand tools
