This position performs daily therapy treatment under the supervision of a licensed Speech Language Pathologist as set forth in a student's Individual Education Plan (IEP). The goal of the SLA is to help reduce, eliminate and accommodate speech, language and hearing disorders within the individual students' ability, so they can derive full benefit from the corporation's educational programming.
Responsibilities Include
Record data on individual student goals as the basis for progress monitoring for IEP compliance.
Plan and implement lessons pertaining to teaching language development and early literacy concepts such as phonemic awareness.
Complete screening/assessments as required or instructed by an SLP.
Create and produce alternative, augmentative visual supports for communication and behavioral purposes for school and home. (ex. Social stories, pictures schedules)
Bridge the transition for students with IEP's coming from First Steps Early Intervention speech therapy to public school preschool to Kindergarten speech therapy.
Assist with therapy for individual students who will transition into Kindergarten.
Meet with parents during Parent Teacher Conferences and attend IEP Case Conferences on an as needed basis.
Contribute through collaboration and positive communication on individual schedules for students and overall classroom workings.
