Specialist - Regulatory Compliance

The Import Export Team plays a crucial role in ensuring our merchandise and non-merchandise arrive safely and efficiently while adhering to all federal regulations of import/export.
Our goal is to deliver our merchandise to the Distribution Center as timely as possible in partnership with external and internal clients.

The Regulatory Compliance Specialist will contribute to our organization success by ensuring the organization adheres to legal and relevant regulatory requirements by partnering cross-functionally with internal and external partners.
About the Role:
- In charge of regulatory compliance monitoring, in partnership with customs brokers and labs
- Communicate with external partners to research and investigate compliance related matters.
- Create internal process and procedures for regulatory matters.
- Execute quarterly meetings with our partners to review, maintain, or address updates.
- Address compliance related challenges, investigate breaches, and take corrective actions as needed.
- Handle product testing and labeling matters as needed.
- Support the maintenance of regulatory files and internal tracking databases to ensure prompt and accurate access to company regulatory information is available on demand.
- Review labeling to ensure compliance for international standards and audit physical labels periodically to ensure compliance.
- Assist with all aspects of US Federal and State product registrations, notifications, and/or reporting (California Safe Cosmetics Program, EPA, High Priority chemicals data systems (HPCDS), etc.).
- Lead CPSC requirements by ensuring specific test reports and certifications are on file based on US orders prior to shipping into the US and share relevant information with customs brokers and/or CPSC to ensure entry can be placed timely.
- Review and record testing results as needed in internal logs while maintaining updated information on the products tested and timing of testing.
- Record applicable reporting to state and/or government agencies timely according to local regulations.
- Is an entry point of contact and coordination role for new compliance regulations, and partners closely with internal HOP departments (Legal, Import/Export, Merchandising and our French Parent Company)
- Review requests from our Parent Company according to US requirements and partner with local contacts to address regulatory matters.
- Implement strategies for regulatory adherence for new or existing products.
- Support the Senior Director with maintenance of processes and procedures related to regulatory requirements including the implementation of SOPs and tools.
- Act as a regulatory referent between HOP, HI, and the Métiers/Divisions (to centralize requests)
- Maintain updated regulatory requirements by periodically researching existing and emerging laws.
- Cross-functional collaboration: Collaborate with various departments including the Legal, Import/Export, Merchandising, Inventory Control and IT teams, and our French Parent Company.

- Minimum of 2 or 3 years of experience, including hands-on internship, in similar role with importer or customs broker.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Familiarity of government agencies such as CPSC, FDA, EPA, and USDA
- Planning and organization
- Analytical, critical thinking and problem solving.
- Teamwork oriented
- The ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft suite, Excel knowledge (V-lookups, Pivot tables is a must), Word and PowerPoint
- Clear and courteous communication.
- Accountability, accuracy, and high level of attention to detail.
- Solid understanding of budgeting and ability to exercise appropriate judgement.
