Job Summary

The Communications Specialist will support the company’s public relations and corporate communications efforts including fielding media and agency inquiries, preparing media kits, drafting and editing press releases, maintaining press lists, organizing executive interviews, and coordinating press visits. In this role, you will also assist in the development of all internal and external corporate communications required to support the needs of the business.

Essential Functions

  • Support Sr. Manager in the day-to-day communication with the PR agency
  • Apply brand knowledge to assist in drafting, editing, and reviewing of PR materials, including press releases, media alerts, interview briefing documents, executive responses, and featured articles.
  • Liaison with internal stakeholders and third-party vendors to assist in editing, reviewing, and routing vendor-led press releases and related materials for approval.
  • Work cross-functionally with internal stakeholders to coordinate and assist in drafting corporate communications including company newsletters, interdepartmental memos, guest notifications, talking points, and other business correspondence.
  • Coordinate individual press trip requests, familiarization voyages, and media visits to the yacht.
  • Support in the coordination of yacht milestone events and activities with appropriate personnel.
  • Support broader Marketing team with initiatives tied to VIP, media, and influencer relations, as well as proofreading needs.
  • Update and maintain the press center on the company website including content, images, and press releases.
  • Assist in administration duties such as accounting, status reports, and metric/measurement reporting.
  • Conduct consistent competitive analysis and monitor industry trends.

Competency

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications, Marketing or related field preferred

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in communications, media relations, and/or related experience required; public relations agency or campaign communications experience preferred
  • Travel, hospitality or luxury experience a plus
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading abilities are required
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong planning capabilities to meet the deadlines required to support media and business needs
  • Ability to interact with senior leaders and build effective relationships within the company, external stakeholders, guests and media
  • Experience in pitching and comfortable reaching out to top-tier media
  • Detail-oriented; exceptional organizational and follow-up skills
  • Deadline-oriented; ability to prioritize multiple tasks and complete them on a timely basis – operates with a sense of urgency
  • Team player with a positive attitude who works well cross-functionally
  • Resourceful, creative self-starter who takes initiative to learn processes and get things done with little supervision
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint programs

Work Environment

  • Hybrid, working at least two (2) days a week from our downtown Fort Lauderdale office.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
