Software Engineer - Python Developer

We are looking for a strong Python developer with good understanding of CI/CD pipeline design and development to deliver enterprise features and integration to support various cloud services. The perfect candidate will have a strong Python programming skills, writing secure, testable, robust code with previous cloud experience within financial services is an asset. The role will also request candidates to have a good understanding of various CI/CD deployment tools (i.e. Git, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Terraform, Nexus / Artifactory, Docker/Kubernetes, etc.).

You will work in collaboration with various engineering teams, cloud subject matter specialists, architects, and engineers to develop, automate and improve the client's enterprise build and deployment pipeline, and tools for various applications and cloud services.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • A strong software engineering background with good Python programming skills; writing and testing code, debugging programs and integrating applications with CI/CD experience.
  • Proficient knowledge of Python 3.x.x and strong understanding of other high level programming language (ex. JAVA, Go, etc.)
  • Managing and working with CI/CD pipelines is desirable (automation, infrastructure definition, configuration management, deployment, system and service monitoring, integration, continuous delivery, etc.)
  • Experience with docker and container orchestration
  • Ability to solve complex problems, strong data structure and algorithm concepts
  • A passion for making developers more efficient through DevOps, CI/CD, Automation and Infrastructure as Code principles
  • Experience with seamless/automated build scripts used for release management across from development to production
  • Experience working with orchestration and configuration management systems such as Saltstack, Ansible or Puppet
  • Passion for debugging complex systems and have an eye for problems that occur at scale.
  • Curious about how things work and can dig deep into multiple levels of software stack -- networking, OS and application layer.
  • Experience writing scripts to automate operational tasks (eg. Shell, Ansible, Python).
  • Write unit/integration tests, contribute to engineering boards, present and u-tube and write detailed and good documentation
  • Formulate, design, develop, test, and deliver data technology solutions with a balanced focus on speed and code quality
  • Collaborate with business analysts, product owners, SME's and project managers to develop user stories, estimates, and work plans
  • Advise business clients and IT management of technology capabilities and recommend strategies to maximize the benefits of new technologies.
  • Experience with automating (provisioning, configuration management, deployment) and integrating Google Data PaaS solutions and Containers (GKE)
  • Learn, design and build modern Data Pipelines/Streams and Data Service APIs to assist with data migration (on-premise SQL to Google SQL databases)
  • Write and use infrastructure as code templates and Terraform
  • Understand product features for DR/BCP options and how fits in overall application architecture
  • Create design/architecture patterns covering HA and DR/BCP
  • Understand security features in Google Cloud
  • Ability to troubleshoot Application connectivity/access to Google data products (LB,DNS, basic routing)
  • Ensure that all cloud solutions follow internally defined security and compliance controls
  • Implement the enterprise cloud capability and enhance the cloud orchestration platform for automated provisioning, management and scalability of hosts, containers, applications and cloud services
  • Basic knowledge of cloud automation using native Google CLI
  • Ability to participate in fast-paced DevOps Engineering teams within Scrum agile processes
  • A critical thinker with strong research and analytics skills
  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude and an ability to work independently and in a team
  • Able to work under tight timeline and deliver on complex problems

Required Skills:

  • 5+ years of Python development experience
  • 3+ years of experience developing platform orchestration code with CI/CD pipeline knowledge
  • Must be a self-starter, demonstrated ability to take independent action to achieve results.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly with all levels within the team
  • Highly developed critical thinking, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Advance knowledge of software development lifecycle and working in an Agile Scrum team
  • Demonstrated effective leadership and analytical skill
