Salary Range

$131,000.00 - $170,000.00

What’s the role?

We are looking for a Software Engineer to join the Collaboration Systems and Enterprise Tooling team within our Internal IT department. The team is dedicated to delivering the enterprise tools, solutions, and services that enable productivity, collaboration, and a great user experience for all Etsy employees.

The ideal candidate will be capable of working alongside a multidisciplinary engineering team, and will bring experience and skills in workflow automation, integration engineering, enterprise SaaSOps, and developing quality software solutions to augment enterprise SaaS tools. We’re looking for people who are great communicators, share a passion for tackling complexity, enjoy coaching and mentoring others, and take a user centric approach in crafting solutions.

This is a full-time position reporting to the Engineering Manager of Collaboration Systems and Enterprise Tooling. For this role, we are considering candidates based in the United States. Candidates living within commutable distance of Etsy’s Brooklyn Office Hub or in the San Francisco Bay Area may be the first to be considered. For candidates within commutable distance, Etsy requires in-office attendance once or twice per week depending on your proximity to the office. What’s this team like at Etsy?

CSEnT engineers evaluate, design, and deliver products, tools and services that enhance the efficiency and connectivity of every Etsy employee. The team has a broad set of skills encompassing internal infrastructure, operations, engineering, analytics, and product management for enterprise tools that gives them the flexibility to deliver both 3rd party “off the shelf” products as well as build their own solutions and integrations. The team provides end-to-end ownership and continuous optimization of critical enterprise SaaS systems used by all Etsy employees in their day to day work. They also enable teams across Etsy through tool and user lifecycle management, and development of solutions improving productivity, workflow efficiencies, and business insights.

We work closely with our internal customers and partner teams to understand their needs, address friction points and provide solutions and services to meet those needs. We prioritize speed to learning over perfection and build space in our timelines to clean up and iterate. We prioritize equitable treatment, inclusivity, and diversity.

What does the day-to-day look like?

  • Contribute at all levels of Etsy’s enterprise technology stack, ranging from configuration management, to cloud infrastructure and tooling, enterprise collaboration and productivity tooling, and related services.
  • Work independently or in collaboration with the CSEnT team to design, develop, and maintain solutions to integrate or enhance SaaS tooling, and automate manual processes and workflows
  • Collaborate with our partner teams and business leaders across Etsy to understand business needs and translate them into technical requirements that improve the value of our SaaS portfolio.
  • Help grow and mentor teammates and more junior engineers in technical and non-technical areas of work, including detailed and constructive design and code reviews.
  • Gain and share insights through research, user interviews, data analysis, and A/B tests.
  • Push code to production early and often using our continuous deployment systems.
  • Develop quality solutions, using performance monitoring tooling, automated and manual testing, and observability tools to verify the correctness and quality of your code.
  • Practice and promote continuous learning, engineering best practices, and agile delivery models to stay informed and focused on our enterprise tools and services.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and incident response.

Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are:

  • 3+ years of experience deploying, managing, and supporting enterprise SaaS systems and their native and custom integrations.
  • Experience applying REST APIs to integrate standalone SaaS applications and gather SaaS tools insights.
  • The ability to write understandable, testable code with an eye towards maintainability, usability, and scalability.
  • Partnering as a strong collaborator and communicator to support the team around you grow and learn.
  • You take a user-centric approach, considering the implications of your work on the end user experience and factoring user needs and ways of working into your solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills including the ability to diagnose and solve technical problems in familiar systems, complete root cause analysis, and deploy permanent corrective actions.
  • Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following languages: PHP, Python, Go, JavaScript
