FLAGSHIP PROGRAMS:

Citizen Solutions addresses hyper-partisan gridlock at the state level in the US. By engaging citizens in deliberative dialogue sessions and incorporating feedback from diverse stakeholders, Citizen Solutions has produced consensus-backed policy proposals in states like Tennessee and Wisconsin, reflecting the collective will of the people.

Builders Media is dedicated to producing digital content that challenges divisive narratives and stereotypes. By encouraging viewers to consider different perspectives, Builders Media aims to break down social media silos and help viewers expand their hearts and minds.

Builders’ Toolkit focuses on equipping individuals and educational institutions with resources to promote critical thinking and deliberative dialogue among students K through University. By empowering young people to question rigid ideologies and engage in constructive discourse, the Builders Toolkit aims to cultivate a generation of thoughtful problem-solvers.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

We are seeking a creative and experienced Social Media Manager, ready to take the next step in their career and use their superpowers for the forces of good. Reporting to the Head of Marketing, this critical role in our organization will bring our core values — curiosity, compassion, courage, and creativity — to life across our social channels every day with the mission to inspire and empower our growing community to practice those values as daily habits.

The successful candidate will lead strategy, creative ideation, scheduling, copywriting, trend spotting, and fan engagement across our channels with support from a part-time Social Media Coordinator they will manage directly and in collaboration with a talented, passionate team and access to foremost leaders and public figures in our Movement Partners group. To succeed in this role, the candidate must be deeply plugged into the daily news cycle from politics and social issues to pop culture, including trending memes, topics, and sounds, and should be excited to develop relevant, timely social creative ideas daily that help scale our movement’s relevance and impact.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the social media practice at Builders with autonomy, creativity, and accountability, with the freedom to experiment and the opportunity to pitch big ideas and see them through
  • Own the ongoing creative and strategic evolution of Builders' social media channels, driving growth and engagement using platform-specific best practices; thoughtful, nuanced, and engaging copywriting; and an understanding of audience psychology as it relates to social content consumption, engagement and sharing
  • Develop original, timely content ideas for our social platforms daily, including quick-turn creative that capitalizes on news and trends to spread our message and grow our movement, and collaborate with an internal design and video team to bring those ideas to life
  • Collaborate closely with a humming editorial and video team to support creative ideation, copy development, perform thumbnail selection, provide feedback from our community and insights from the industry, and generally provide expertise to maximize content distribution reach
  • Own the overall social programming calendar, ensuring flawless execution of daily post publishing with support of Social Media Coordinator, including night and weekend scheduling, with exceptional attention to detail
  • Write thoughtful, nuanced, razor-sharp copy for each platform that directly connects our posts to the mission of our program providing daily inspiration and insight to our community; work in partnership with our Editorial Lead to ensure stylistic voice and tone consistency across platforms
  • Drive community engagement with polls, Q&As, etc., and regularly engage with our community to foster a deeper connection to our movement; strategically insert Builders in real-time social conversations in order to drive awareness and engagement with our movement
  • Work with the Head of Marketing to measure and optimize performance across channels
  • Develop an understanding of our audience and their behaviors across platforms and leverage knowledge for creative, copywriting, content development, and fan engagement tactics
  • Work with the Head of Marketing to learn and execute on paid social campaigns
  • Compile our weekly and monthly data reports and insights with guidance from Head of Marketings

Requirements

TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE, YOU:

  • Have a bachelor’s degree
  • Have 5+ years of social media experience, preferably in news, politics, media, or entertainment
  • Have expert knowledge of social media platform management and best practices across creative and programming (TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, etc.)
  • Have exceptional copywriting skills; ability to think and write with nuance on complex topics quickly — the successful candidate will undertake a brief copywriting assignment as part of the interview process
  • Have a broad knowledge of the social media toolset landscape with the ability to implement a smooth content publishing and scheduling workflow
  • Are an experienced workflow manager, highly organized with impeccable attention to detail and an ability to execute precisely while managing multiple priorities
  • Have a demonstrated track record of growing audiences organically and driving social media engagement
  • Have a strong ability to communicate social media strategies and provide clear creative direction
  • Are experienced managing junior social media team member(s) and vendors as needed
  • Are knowledgeable about social media metrics and how to leverage data to inform creative
  • Having a strong personal social following is a plus!
