Summary

Full-time and part-time positions as a Sierra Ski & Ride Snow Sport Staff member are available for the 23/24 winter season! Typically, a Snow Sport Staff member is a novice to intermediate-level skier or rider, someone who enjoys spending time with children, and wants to help others gain confidence with their on-snow abilities. They are someone who loves to meet new people and share their passion for the mountain lifestyle and the outdoors. We will develop your people skills to help instructors and students maximize their day.

Duties And Responsibilities Are (but Not Limited To)

  • Upholding the highest levels of guest service within the Children’s Ski & Ride School.
  • Assist Instructors with their lessons by aiding in class handling, assisting at break times, preparing equipment, and check-in/out procedures.
  • Work with supervisors/managers to ensure facility preparedness and cleanliness.
  • Assisting guests with transportation of equipment.
  • Assisting classes to load and unload the chairlift and carpets.
  • Communicating instructions and helping guests to their feet during a lesson; lifting children by the vest (if applicable).
  • Supervising students during our lunch program and snack times.
  • Aiding instructors to ensure the return of children to their identified guardian.
  • Assisting in operational responsibilities of Snowsports programs including but not limited to registration process, directing guests to appropriate equipment-fitting source, upkeep of outdoor teaching areas, and cleanliness of facilities.
  • Contribute to team effort by participating in Job Sharing, assuming responsibility for the cleanliness of the resort and safety of guests and employees; participating in safety meetings; accepting diverse assignments; maintain a positive and friendly attitude and demeanor in all internal and external interactions.

Responsibilities To Safety

  • Protect the safety of self, co-workers, and Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort guests at all times.
  • Report any potentially harmful equipment or situations to the immediate supervisor without delay.
  • Report safety-related accidents and incidents at once to immediate supervisor.
  • Follow all company and department safety policies and procedures.
  • Operate equipment in a safe manner that will not lead to injury of yourself or others.

Qualifications

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (G.E.D.) preferred; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Resort certification on any necessary equipment.
