Shopper Marketing Manager
*Open to Remote Candidates, with a preference for hybrid at our HQ in La Jolla, Ca*
Position Summary
The Shopper Marketing Manager is responsible for an important key growth initiative: to maximize our brand communication and presence in store, in a manner consistent with the brand strategy and helps us win at shelf. Responsibility will include shopper & national consumer promotions across all trade channels: Retail Grocery, Mass, Club and Convenience.
This role will have a high impact on overall trade engagement and serves as a key point of contact at the intersection of Marketing, Sales, Operations, and external broker partners to achieve our growth agenda.
Additionally, the shopper marketing manager will provide shopper & consumer insight to support the sell-in process, lead the evaluation of all activity, support the development of sales materials and influence future toolkit development. This will also include management of major trade shows.
Shopper/Customer Marketing Activity Management
- Define and execute annual activity plan from the marketing and sales priorities and shape rolling 18-month plan for shopper marketing and national consumer promotions.
- Be the custodian for any retailer specific loyalty programs to ensure consistency, impact and effectiveness, making recommendations on prioritization of spend by account.
- Ensure effective creative communication & management consistent with the brand identity & shopper/customer insights.
Communications
- Develop and the sell-in presentations required to communicate the activity plan
- Define clear and simple processes to manage execution and provide visibility to all key stakeholders.
- Development of promotion management tool to plan and track all customer/shopper marketing activities.
- Develop Sales materials inclusive of sell sheets, POI and new item launch support.
- Trade Show Leadership & material development in line with Brand design & positioning
Reporting & Budget management:
- Provide plans, reviews and recommendations of activity spend for projects.
- Be accountable for all shopper/customer marketing spend, and manage budget ongoing
- Customer/Shopper Marketing activity & spend reporting inclusive of evaluation of performance
- Best practice development and sharing across channels and customers to optimize support programs.
Key Skills Required
- Communication Development: Experience creating internal and external communications, including development of clear, compelling sales presentations, that demonstrate an understanding of customer priorities & opportunities aligned to business strategies. Capable of managing the creative process in the development of in-store communication.
- Delivers Consistent Results: Proven track record of delivery within the market. Priority setting, command skills, organizational agility.
- Self-Starter: must have ability to work independently and proactively but seamlessly transition into team collaborative environment
- Dealing with ambiguity: Must be able to work in a dynamic work environment and able to effectively manage change; can shift gears comfortably; can decide and act without having the total picture; can comfortably handle risk and uncertainty.
- Entrepreneurial Spirit: A solution-oriented approach that is resourceful to make a lot out of a little.
- Influencing without Authority: Able to influence & lead non-direct reports in a fast-paced team setting with an entrepreneurial mindset.
- Presentation skills: ability to deliver a clear message, train broker teams, present to retailers, and influence key decision makers.
Minimum Qualifications
- 4-year college degree
- 5-years of experience in Shopper Marketing / Sales / Business Planning / Trade Marketing
- External/customer perspective
- Proven analytical skills
- Strong knowledge of Syndicated Data (SPINS, Nielsen/IRI, Panel Data, etc)
- Budget management
- Strong oral, written communication, and presentation skills
- Computer proficient (Microsoft Office, Nielsen/IRI)
- Good interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated success in the CPG industry
- Demonstrated understanding of complex business customers/channels and Broker operations
- Local to the Southern California Region
