Summary

To maintain equipment and building fabric as directed to ensure that the hotel gives the illusion to every arriving guest that they are the only person to have used the facilities.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

The essential duties and responsibilities of the Shift Engineer position are as follow:

  • Attend to all maintenance issues identified in the hotel suites, public areas, recreational facilities, lobby and restaurant
  • Maintain service and repairs for the HVAC equipment, washer/dryer, refrigeration and ice machines units
  • Conduct swimming pool testing and maintenance
  • Maintain and repair central mechanical systems including exhaust fans
  • Conduct routine inspections, maintenance and repairs
  • Work with all departments to ensure maintenance priorities are addressed to standard
  • Other Engineering duties as assigned

Position Status and Availability

The candidate selected for this position must be available to work a full-time, flexible (AM/PM) shift, Sunday - Saturday including holidays.

Certifications and Licenses

The candidate selected for this position must possess a valid 2nd Class Engineer Boiler's License issued by the City of New Orleans.

Language Ability

Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English (speak, read, write) with guests, other associates and management to their understanding. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of the hotel.

Math Ability

Ability to accurately compute and manipulate mathematical calculations.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills

No computer skills needed.

Certificates and Licenses

A 2nd Class Engineer Boiler’s License issued by the City of New Orleans is required.

This posistion has supervisory responsibilities.

Education And Experience

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; at least two (2) years experience in an upscale hotel required. A 2nd Class Engineer Boiler’s License issued by the City of New Orleans is required.
