Senior Youth Counselor

WORKDAYS

  • 35 hours/Week. Sunday-Thursday or Tuesday-Saturday, Daytime and Evening Hours

FUNCTION

This position will provide direct peer support to Youth Counselors. Senior Youth Counselors will ensure housing environments remain safe, secure, and affirming. They provide residents with individual support and group programming, and are responsible for ensuring resident needs and concerns are communicated to housing leadership and resident care teams. Senior Youth Counselors will submit work orders to the IT and facilities teams as well complete food orders and other logistics as needed. Senior Youth Counselors will also be required to provide shift coverage as needed, within their designated shifts.

Top Responsibilities

  • Develop and facilitate group activities that achieves the learning objectives set by the housing leadership
  • Take the lead in managing site inventory (food/supplies/COVID trackers)
  • Submit Facilities/IT Work orders/ Staples account.
  • Ordering food and supplies for housing site
  • Ensure residents are connected to services and engaging with care team including Case Managers, Mental Health Specialist, Health Counselors and LEAP Specialist
  • Attend Treatment Team Meetings, Clinical Treatment Meetings and communicate updates and concerns to housing team per resident
  • Ensure record keeping is accurate and timely, including but not limited to
  • Client charts
  • Site log books
  • Incident report submission to PTS
  • Incident report, fire drill, Driscoll invoice and group note binders
  • Incentives and consequences tracker
  • Complete housing intakes with incoming housing resident
  • Conduct on-site training with incoming all Youth Counselors
  • Provide peer support to Youth Counselors to answer frequently asked questions
  • Lead Monthly Youth Counselor peer support groups
  • Supervise Resident Advisors
  • Facilitate day to day crisis management and deescalation among residents
  • Attend regular staff meetings including; Mandatory In-Service, Resident Advisory Board, Case Conference, Operations Team Meeting, Teambuilding, Training

Education Requirements

[ x] High School

Training/Experience In Youth Social Services Required.

TECHNICAL SKILL REQUIREMENTS

Computer knowledge and competent writing skills.

QUALIFICATION NEEDED

Must be able to work independently, with and across teams. Must be able travel between sites. Experience working with adolescent/young adult population required. Knowledge of psychosocial needs of LGBTQ/homeless population is helpful. Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, weekends and holidays. Willingness to travel between sites. Supervisory experience is a plus. Six months - one year of housing experience preferred. Transgender & gender non-conforming people are encouraged to apply.
