On the AI at Work Marketing team, we aim to deliver world-class content to help business leaders understand how AI is reshaping work—and how Microsoft Copilot can transform their business in the era of AI. The team is seeking a Senior Writer and Editor, AI at Work for all content for the Microsoft 365 blog—the top communications channel for tier one commercial Copilot news. The writer and editor will also contribute regularly to WorkLab digital publication, newsletter, and podcast; Microsoft’s thought leadership publication on the future of work, along with other content workstreams.

This is a high-visibility, high impact role that requires world-class writing and editing chops, an aptitude for technological thought leadership, and the ability to deliver across multiple stakeholders in a highly dynamic environment. They will partner closely with cross-functional executive leaders and teams, transforming technical descriptions into impactful blogs that meet messaging goals and resonate with customers and press—all at the speed of AI.

The editor will sit on the AI at Work editorial team, collaborating closely with outbound marketing, PR, product marketing, and cloud blog teams.

Responsibilities

  • Own the Microsoft 365 blog editorial strategy and calendar, working closely with outbound marketing team to build an editorial calendar that reflects broader business priorities and goals and hits key content performance metrics.
  • Write, co-write, or edit all content published on the Microsoft 365 blog, stewarding blogs from outline to final draft.
  • Develop deep, hands-on expertise on Microsoft products and product vision—the writer will be an in-house technology beat reporter with a list of sources across the company to inform product storytelling and connect dots across product groups.
  • Interview customers on their AI transformation journey to pull out key insights and findings and share stories across blogs, case studies, and keynotes.
  • Work across product marketing, thought leadership, and PR teams to ensure blogs align to broader AI at Work and Copilot at Work narratives and meet established editorial criteria.
  • Work with executive spokespeople and their communication teams to tailor blog voice to executive bylines.
  • Manage multiple stakeholders, incorporating key inputs while maintaining editorial and messaging excellence.
  • Write and edit thought leadership content for WorkLab and other thought leadership content.
  • Own customer and field enablement assets, proactively updating content at key intervals and product moments.
  • Contribute to product-demo scripting, keynote writing, and other content workstreams.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism, Political Science, Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 5+ years experience in business or journalism
    • OR Master's Degree in in Communications, Journalism, Political Science, Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 3+ years experience in business or journalism
    • OR equivalent experience
  • Experience leading editorial for a tier one technology, business, or product-focused publication, with the demonstrated ability to deliver excellence against tight deadlines, multiple stakeholders, and ongoing change
  • Experience working closely with cross-functional executive leadership on Tier 1 product news communications
Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism, Political Science, Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 8+ years experience in business or journalism
    • OR Master's Degree in Communications, Journalism, Political Science, Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 6+ years experience in business or journalism
    • OR equivalent experience
  • Communication and leadership skills, with a track record of successful cross-functional projects
  • A demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in a highly matrixed organization and the ability to influence without authority
  • An ability to practice adaptive leadership and thrive in a fast-paced, high-stakes and ever-changing environment
  • Experience as a technology writer and editor at an F200/F500 company
Product Marketing IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $103,800 - $200,300 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $133,700 - $219,200 per year.
