Senior Vice President, Business Development

Southeastern United States (Metro Atlanta, Metro Charlotte, or Florida preferred)

Position Description

FPA is seeking a business development professional with a proven track record of success representing investment products to financial advisors at wire house firms, regional and independent broker dealers, and RIAs. This person will cover the Southeastern part of the country for FPA’s Business Development team. Coverage states include Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, and Florida. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, enthusiastic, savvy, and solutions oriented. FPA prides itself on having an intelligent, well informed, and value-add business development team. This person must be willing to do what it takes to open new doors and posses the strategic depth to determine how the team’s resources should be best aligned to promote success. The ideal candidate is a believer in FPA’s value orientation.

The role will focus on existing strategies in traditional structures (mutual fund, ETF, SMA), alternative structures (closed end funds), and have familiarity with semi liquid structures (such as interval funds). This is an entrepreneurial position with room to make a significant contribution to the team and realize the rewards that come from success.

Responsibilities

  • Territory coverage including outbound and inbound sales calls, in-person and video meetings with financial advisors and investment officers who are clients and prospects, and group presentations to financial advisors and investment committees.
  • Improve upon and build new relationships in all advisory channels creating awareness and influence for FPA, its investment strategies, and investment products.
  • Maintain an expert level of FPA product knowledge and a familiarity with peers and competitors to be a valuable resource to clients and prospects across all channels of coverage.
  • Keep current on market trends, product trends, and new regulations and policies that effect customer participation in marketed products.

Required Qualifications, Skills, And Knowledge

  • At least 7 years of sales experience covering the Southeast for an institutional money management firm.
  • Self-confident, detail oriented, and organized with a strong process including an executive presence, and a proven track record across all advisory channels (wire house firms, broker dealers, and RIAs).
  • An ability to build and maintain a consultative relationship with clients and prospects. A proven history of being a thought partner and a problem solver.
  • Hard working, strong work ethic, and reliable. Competitive, a drive to succeed, and a commitment to success.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills with the ability to motivate, adapt, and influence clients and prospects. Must possess an ability to relate favorably to all kinds of people.
  • Exceptional presentation skills with the ability to present in a variety of settings to individuals and groups.
  • In-depth understanding of the money management business including analytical skills and an ability to learn and discuss complex investment strategies with prospects and clients.
  • Team oriented and willing to work with others as a team to achieve firm goals.
  • The highest level of integrity and ethics.
  • A belief and appreciation for long term value investing, best defined as investing with a margin of safety.
  • Must reside in one of the coverage states listed above with a preference for Metro Atlanta, Metro Charlotte, or Florida. Must have an ability to travel at least sixty (60%) percent of the time. The position’s work location will be fully remote, work from home when not traveling.
  • Bachelors in related field required, Series 7 and 63 license required, MBA and/or CFA highly preferred.

Compensation

$150,000 – $200,000 base salary + asset retention bonus + sales-based bonus, and comprehensive benefits package. Base salary will be determined by applicant’s skills, experience, geographic location and pay equity considerations.
