Senior Technical designer ( soft woven / gowns)

Responsibilities:

  • The candidate will be responsible and accountable for approving well-fitting, properly constructed garments that maintain consistency across factories
  • Specializing in high-end dresses
  • The Technical Designer will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy of product measurements, quality, construction, and fit
  • The Senior Technical Design level in the organization needs to support growth within the company
  • Must be organized and able to independently prioritize workload
  • Utilize deep expertise and understanding of fit, patternmaking, grading, technical construction and fabrics
  • Communicate pattern corrections accurately and understand pattern making a must
  • Enter fit comments into Excel with product pictures/dates ensuring timely data entry according to brand calendars and deadlines
  • Add/update construction detail sketches using Adobe Illustrator, Excel, or other systems as needed
  • Confirm correct grade rules in the tech pack to produce compliant products for fit in each size
  • Measure garments accurately to identify any fit issues and execute fit comments efficiently to remain on schedule with production
  • Participate in fit sessions, provide recommendations, note callouts, and log critiques to address all issues efficiently
  • Approve samples for production after a thorough evaluation of fit, measurement, hanger appeal, and functionality
  • Provide grading guidelines to vendors after fit approval to ensure quality consistency and collaborate with internal and external partners

Qualifications:

  • 10 ten + years of Technical Design experience inhigh-end dresses and gowns
  • College degree, or equivalent professional work experience, required
  • Strong knowledge of pattern making, grading, garment construction, sewing, technical drawing, measuring, and fitting
  • Proven expertise in apparel fitting, specs, and patterns
  • Proficient in Illustrator, Photoshop, PowerPoint, Excel
  • Strong project management and multi-tasking skills with critical attention to detail
  • Confident, engaging verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage competing priorities
  • Team player, problem solver with passion for product, organized and detail oriented
  • Ability to work independently and work to meet multiple deadlines
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with cross functional partners, vendors, and overseas offices
