Technical Designer responsible for ensuring that the fit of the garment is commercially viable. The position coordinates with various departments and factories to achieve and maintain corporate standards for fit and quality for designated product categories. A tech-savvy person who creates apparel samples for major retailers. Implement the use of 3D V-Stitcher is a plus.
Responsibilities
Work with the Design Staff and Product Managers to achieve corporate standards in both fit and quality.
Responsible to ensure that the product is commercially viable before being put into production. If not, the Technical designer is responsible for elevating their concerns.
Work with Design in developing and maintaining standard fit blocks.
Work with Design staff to issue initial specs for Proto sample development.
Measure samples and prepare all paperwork for fit sessions.
Run fit sessions, identify, and analyze problems with fit and construction on live model, body form, and 3D form.
Write and communicate detailed comments to vendor after each fitting
Follow up with resubmitted samples and issue graded production specs accordingly
When necessary, review for quality and measure production samples
Periodically evaluate the fit relative to the competition and present findings to Design and Merchandising to determine consistency with industry and adjust as required
Work with Technical Designers to regularly review base size specification, grade rules, and figure body types to ensure size range meets company objectives
Partner with Production to help analyze factories for workmanship and quality
Organize and maintain fit block library along with approval samples and work area
Review and become familiar with QC manual
Qualifications/Job Skills
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
Minimum 7+ years of experience in a similar role
Must be highly organized and detail-oriented/innovative traits are necessary
Excellent communication and follow-through skills
Must be able to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
Must be proactive with a solution/result-oriented attitude
Strong background in Woven and Knit
Passion for design technology and innovation
Photoshop, Excel, Word Outlook, and PowerPoint, V-Stitcher, Illustrator
Digital pattern experience is a plus
WALMART experience is a plus
