Senior Scientific Director

EPM Scientific is partnered with a mid-size medical communications agency based on the east coast that is looking for a Senior Scientific Director to join their dynamic team. This company specializes in delivering high-impact medical education and publication strategies to support their biopharmaceutical clients across a number of therapeutic areas like neurology, oncology, and rare diseases.

As a Senior Scientific Director, you will be responsible for:

• Leadership: Provide strategic leadership and oversight across medical education and publication deliverables, ensuring alignment with client objectives and regulatory requirements.
• Scientific Excellence: Act as a scientific expert, guiding teams in the development and execution of medical communication strategies, including advisory boards, slide decks, manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and presentations.
• Client Collaboration: Serve as a key point of contact for clients, fostering strong relationships and understanding their scientific needs to deliver tailored solutions.
• Team Management: Lead and mentor a team of scientific and medical writers, providing guidance on scientific content, project timelines, and quality standards.
• Compliance: Ensure all deliverables adhere to industry guidelines, regulatory requirements, and ethical standards, maintaining the highest level of scientific integrity.
• Innovation: Drive innovation and continuous improvement in medical communication strategies and processes, keeping abreast of industry trends and advancements.
• Project Oversight: Manage multiple projects simultaneously, overseeing timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure timely and successful project delivery.
• Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams including medical affairs, regulatory affairs, and marketing to integrate scientific insights into broader client initiatives.
• Business Development: Support business development efforts by contributing scientific expertise to proposals, client presentations, and new business pitches.

A strong candidate for the position will have:

• PhD in a scientific discipline, MD, or PharmD.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in medical communications agency space, with a proven track record in medical education.
• Strong understanding of pharmaceutical industry practices, clinical trial data, and regulatory guidelines.
• Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to manage and inspire teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen attention to detail.
• Strategic thinker with the ability to translate scientific data into compelling communication strategies.
