Job Description Summary This position is an Engineer in-the-shop role and is intended for placing a resource on-site at Howmet in Whitehall, Michigan. This role will focus on improving engagement, communication, the time required to resolve issues, and an understanding of needs between Howmet Whitehall and Turbine Airfoils Design Engineering. This role requires moderate automony, high levels of operational judgement, knowledge of Turbine Airfoils design practices, and basic understanding of the investment casting process. This role requires clear and concise communication skills as well as the ability to work with all levels of the organization. Job Description

Roles And Responsibilities

  • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements. This work would include mechanical engineering for all products
  • Capable of developing path for evaluating nonconformances and executing on engineering assessments
  • Possesses or develops specialized knowledge in their discipline. Serves as reliable resource for bringing clarity to drawing interpretation, spec interpretation, and design intent questions.
  • Has awareness of latest technical developments in own area. Contributes towards strategy and policy development, and ensure delivery within area of responsibility.
  • Has in-depth knowledge of design practices and how own area integrates with others;
  • Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Design Engineering

Desired Characteristics

  • Master's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects.
  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
  • Established project management skills.

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
