Senior Radiologic Technologist - Day Shift

Must-Have

Graduate of an allied health education and accredited radiography school or hospital-based program.

NY State DOH Licensure or Limited Permit required.

ARRT registered (RT) and radiograph (R).

BLS certification through the American Heart Association is required or must be completed within 90 days of hire.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Understand and adhere to performance standards, policies, and behaviors.
  • Prepare and position patients accurately for specific examinations, considering unique requirements for each protocol and documenting images and relevant patient information.
  • Assume responsibility for designated areas and/or procedures, producing high-quality technical images, and reviewing completed exams for test appropriateness and completeness.
  • Assist physicians during procedures as necessary.
  • Perform equipment quality assurance and calibrations, and manage supply orders.
  • Be available for emergencies, on-call duties, holidays, and varying shifts as needed for department coverage.
  • Maintain cleanliness in work areas, equipment, and accessories, promptly reporting malfunctioning equipment to Bio Med or supervisor.
  • Process images or print CDs as needed.
  • Perform routine office duties such as answering phones, checking reports/films, and documenting information using Meditech or the hospital RIS and PACs digital x-ray system.
  • Notify transport when patients are ready to be picked up or returned to floors.
  • Show radiologist films, call reports to attending physicians, and document communications as necessary (wet readings).
  • May be assigned as an instructor or preceptor.
  • Uphold professionalism and courtesy in interactions with all individuals, adhering to the hospital's behavioral standards.
  • Introduce self and educate each patient or family member about the ordered examination.
  • Perform related duties, attend staff meetings, and participate in in-services.
  • Duties and hours may change according to the needs of the department or hospital.
  • Prepare schedules, maintain time sheets, and handle payroll responsibilities.
  • Order necessary supplies.
  • Manage daily patient flow and departmental tasks.

Education
