The role

As a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer, you will lead the implementation of best practices for both manual and automated tests. You will verify that the developed software complies with defined functional and non-functional acceptance criteria at all test levels, except for unit and component tests. You will apply suitable automation solutions to expedite testing while maintaining reasonable test coverage. Additionally, you will support the enhancement of technical skills for less experienced Quality Assurance engineers.

Where you’ll work

You must be located in the US to be considered for this position. You’ll have the flexibility to choose between remote work (State permitting) or working from our office in Cleveland.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Designing, creating, and updating tests for new functionality and regression tests, including those for the most complex IT solutions.
  • Executing both manual and automated tests and documenting results using agreed standards.
  • Participating in implementing automated testing strategies across multiple platforms (e.g., web, mobile) by designing and developing automated test cases.
  • Selecting and approving test cases suitable for automation.
  • Analyzing automated test case results and independently fixing standard defects in automated tests.
  • Reporting defects and working with developers, product representatives, and QA engineers to troubleshoot and triage issues and defects found during testing.
  • Defining countermeasures based on root cause analysis of defects.
  • Proactively identifying new opportunities and advocating for improvements to the current manual and automated testing processes.
  • Fostering an effective and collaborative culture of code and test case review by providing high-quality reviews of manual and automated test cases.
  • Setting good practices for test design and coding.
  • Acting as a mentor to less experienced team members and conducting training sessions on testing topics within the team.

What You’ll Need

  • 5 years of commercial QA Automation experience.
  • Hands-on experience in implementing automation at different test levels: API, UI.
  • Proficient with tools such as Postman and Cypress.
  • Familiar with ISTQB standards, including test types, levels, design techniques, test pyramid rules, and bug management processes.
  • Experienced in assessing test coverage, identifying gaps, and using appropriate tools to address these gaps.
  • Skilled in creating, executing, and maintaining manual and automated tests for commercial business applications.
  • Knowledgeable in version control systems and comfortable with pull request workflows.
  • Experienced in using SQL queries for testing purposes.
  • Basic understanding of tools commonly used for CI/CD.
  • Initial experience in training and mentoring less experienced employees.
  • Understanding of Agile principles and methodologies.
  • Able to communicate clearly, concisely, and professionally both verbally and in writing.
  • Self-starter with strong troubleshooting skills and a desire to identify the root cause of issues.
