We provide clean renewable energy at competitive rates to over three million residents and businesses through approximately one million customer accounts.What You’ll DoCPA is seeking a highly skilled and proactive content creator and messaging professional to serve as CPA’s Senior Public Relations Manager. Our Senior Public Relations Manager will be responsible for developing and executing strategic communications to promote CPA’s initiatives, enhance our reputation, and drive engagement with stakeholders, customers, media, and the public. You will craft compelling narratives, manage media relations, monitor and analyze content effectiveness, coordinate a variety of communications efforts to support CPA’s goals and objectives, heighten visibility and foster understanding of clean energy and CPA, and shine a light on CPA’s customer programs, advancements in the adoption of clean energy, and leadership position in the clean energy industry.Who You’ll Work WithThe Senior Public Relations Manager reports to the Director, Communications and Marketing. Respond to media inquiries in a timely manner.Responsible for identifying and managing opportunities for garnering positive visibility for CPA such as award entries, speaking engagements, event participation, earned and paid media, and more.Help plan and coordinate stakeholder and/or public events to enhance brand visibility, attract media attention, and foster relationships with key stakeholders.Media Monitoring and Analysis:Monitor CPA and energy industry media coverage and industry trends, conduct media analysis, and provide regular reports and insights as directed, identifying opportunities for growth and areas for improvement.Strategic CommunicationsDevelop and implement comprehensive PR strategies aligned with CPA’s goals, positioning it as a leader in the clean energy sector.Write, copy edit and/or proofread messaging for a variety of uses including customer notifications, bill messages, talking points for staff and stakeholders, and more.Plan and implement engaging and effective social media packages and website content to foster audience engagement, customer understanding of CPA, and help spur activity on calls to action.Contribute to communications content through diverse channels such as video, photography, social media, newsletters and more, craft compelling narratives that highlight the company's innovation, sustainability efforts, benefits to the environment, and contributions to the clean energy transition, resonating with diverse audiences.Content CreationResponsible for creating engaging press releases, articles, blog posts, communication toolkits and other written materials that effectively communicate key messages and showcase the company's expertise and thought leadership in clean energy.Manage library of talking points about CPA, messaging content and collateral to ensure it is up to date and ready for use by CPA staff; work with internal communications, programs staff, and other staff to keep content accurate and current.Partnerships and CollaborationsWork with internal teams to help identify and pursue strategic partnerships and collaboration opportunities with other organizations and industry leaders to amplify CPA’s impact and reach.Special ProjectsHelp develop and manage communications and outreach projects that elevate understanding of CPA and foster engagement of stakeholders and general audiences.Other duties as assignedQualificationsCandidates must have a bachelor’s degree and 5-7 years of progressively responsible experience OR equivalent experience to a university degree and at least 10 years of related experienceDegree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.Exemplary grammar and writing skills, with fluency in AP StyleProven experience in public relations, corporate communications, or related roles, preferably within a highly visible external facing organization or public sector entityEstablished relationships and connectivity with news media in the Los Angeles media marketDemonstrated success in media relations, with a track record of building media relationships securing positive coverage with top-tier media outlets including the Los Angeles media market.Three years continued experience directly managing communications staff of two or more peopleUnderstanding of clean energy, environmental and sustainability issues preferredWork LocationResiding in Southern California is required for this position. This position is eligible for either Hybrid or Remote options. The Hybrid option requires 2-3 assigned days in the Downtown Los Angeles office and includes a transportation allowance. The Remote option requires you to reside in Southern California to be available to attend field events within Los Angeles and Ventura Counties. The Remote & Hybrid options require in-person attendance at organization or team-wide events 3 times per year for 3-5 days per event. Full-time staff are required to work during CPA’s office hours Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:30pm PST.BenefitsThe salary range for this position is $133,813.73 - $192,690.38, with exact compensation to be determined by Clean Power Alliance dependent on experience. Benefits include health care, a 401(k)-like match program, paid vacation, and sick leave.
