This role is key in assisting operations and maintenance at the work site with technical analyses and designs to improve existing processes and equipment. Manages project work to maintain compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
Leads the technical process for operating areas to solve equipment and process-related problems, including troubleshooting.
Assists with designing solutions to eliminate equipment failures and process instabilities
Manages all phases of assigned capital projects including the development project justifications, scope, AFCEs, vendor management packets and project documentation.
Conducts data analysis and provides support data for all reports and performance updates.
Develops, coordinates, and conducts technical reliability studies and evaluations of engineering design concepts.
Investigates and analyses relevant variables potentially affecting product and processes. Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards.
Analyses preliminary plans and develops reliability engineering programs to achieve company, customer, and governmental agency reliability objectives.
Organizes shut down schedules for operations where applicable.
Develops working knowledge of all process areas in areas including process flow, operator responsibility, major quality attributes and areas for improvement.
Participates in the development of less experienced engineers.
Provides crew supervision during trials or upset conditions to ensure the trial plans are properly executed.
Qualifications and Education:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering; mechanical, paper science or chemical.
Minimum 5 years of experience in project or reliability engineering, maintenance, or operations in the paper industry required with preferences in high-speed manufacturing environments.
Previous experience using a Production Management system (required).
Capable of managing Process Safety Management programs.
Familiar with and have a good working knowledge of construction and repair codes (ASME, API, NBIC, NEC etc.).
Knowledgeable with maintenance best practices (vibration analysis, oil analysis, etc.) preferred.
Exposure to hazardous chemicals used in manufacturing process.
