Senior Project Architect

Job Location: NYC or Long Island

Overview

Our client offers integrated design, construction, and technology solutions to a wide range of public and private sector clients. Recognized as one of the nation's top Construction Managers by Engineering News-Record, they currently provide a hybrid/flexible work schedule.

Their architectural division, an award-winning design firm, is looking for a Senior Project Architect to join their team. This role involves participation in the design, documentation, and construction administration of various municipal projects, including those in Healthcare, K-12/Higher Education, Public Safety, and Justice, based in their Mineola, LI, and New York City offices.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical aspects of projects, supporting the Design and Management Teams to ensure successful delivery.
  • Collaborate with Clients, Client representatives, Consultants, and Construction Managers.
  • Have a thorough understanding of local and state building codes, performing code research, and applying analysis to design requirements.
  • Develop design documentation, including surveys, reports, architectural drawings, details, and specifications, in alignment with project schedules.
  • Coordinate effectively with internal and external engineering consultants, including Survey, MEP, Civil, Environmental, Cost Estimators, and Structural disciplines.
  • Conduct product and material research.
  • Perform design and constructibility reviews with the Technical Director at all project stages.
  • Provide oversight and mentorship to junior staff.

Qualifications

  • A degree in Architecture from an accredited college is required.
  • Professional License is required.
  • 10-15+ years of U.S. experience in building design and construction document preparation.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Experience with 3D Modeling software such as Enscape, Rhino 3D Max, or Adobe Creative Suite/Blue Beam is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of International and Local Building Codes is required.
  • Strong conceptual, planning, and organizational skills, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team on various projects and tasks.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, able to convey ideas competently and professionally to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Self-motivated, capable of working independently and managing multiple tasks.
  • Experience in building planning, drawing standards, design, and construction management, with active involvement in various restorative and new design projects.
  • LEED credentials or an understanding of sustainable design is a plus.
  • Willingness to work schedules that meet project-specific requirements, which may extend beyond the typical workweek.

Compensation

  • Salary range: $110,000 - $200,000 DOE. The specified range reflects what our client, in good faith, believes is appropriate for the advertised position. Exact compensation will be determined based on individual qualifications and location.
