Senior Program Manager (Research, Algorithms, and Data)

The Research, Algorithms, and Data (RAD) Organization covers a broad scope and a wide range of skill sets from conducting on site and decentralized clinical research to data engineering and machine learning operations to signal processing, data science, and machine learning. The projects RAD delivers require a high degree of well-coordinated cross-functional collaboration across quarters or even years. WHOOP is looking for an experienced Senior Program Manager to ensure the efficient execution of these mission-critical projects. The right person for this role is a high performer who leverages relationships throughout WHOOP to see around corners and seamlessly align dependent resources despite inevitable uncertainty.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a coherent program strategy to align resources across the many sub-groups of the RAD org as projects move from one to the next
  • Maintain a source of truth on the status, risks, blockers, and staffing for all RAD initiatives; update stakeholders internal and external to the RAD org on these as they evolve.
  • Anticipate complexity and break it down to simplify and de-risk projects
  • Maintain visibility into the RAD organization’s budget and spending
  • Work independently and self sufficiently to solve problems; escalating to management’s attention as needed
  • Identify inefficiencies in the team and propose solutions for more streamlined processes
  • Reports to the Senior Vice President of Research, Algorithms, and Data

Qualifications

  • You have 5+ years of experience in technical program management or a related field
  • You are a skilled and versatile problem solver. You can operate in ambiguity and anticipate potential challenges
  • You are an excellent communicator both in writing and speaking
  • You have strong program management and Excel skills and a knack for organizing information
  • You lead with and practice psychological safety
  • You can rally stakeholders forward at a challenging yet sustainable pace and successfully partner with diverse technical and non technical stakeholders both internally and externally to the RAD organization.
  • You listen with the intent to understand and grow, take on feedback quickly and share feedback with others to help everyone grow

This role is based in the WHOOP office located in Boston, MA. The successful candidate must be prepared to relocate if necessary to work out of the Boston, MA office.
