Thule has an exciting opportunity in our Product Development department at our Longmont, CO office. The Senior Product Developer will work with the Bags Design, Product and Project Management teams to drive commercialization of our Packs, Bags and Luggage collections from initial concepts to final specifications to production. They will develop our innovative product collections while managing launch timing. The Senior Product Developer will be the go-to area expert for Packs, Bags and Luggage development.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Coordinate product development from initial concept through production by creating product documentation and specifications, monitoring product testing and performance, and managing cost and sustainability targets

  • Support the design process through proactive discussion with Design on concept feasibility with a focus on cost, quality, functionality, and manufacturability
  • Interact with our in-house prototyping room to rapidly prototype innovative concepts
  • Work with our internal test labs to develop test plans and ensure new products meet all pre-determined test criteria
  • Keep up to date on market trends, category goals, new technologies and consumer needs throughout the development process
  • Review all prototypes to evaluate fit/function, construction, quality, design intent, cost, and compliance with specifications
  • Develop innovative and market leading textiles and construction techniques to meet design intent and cost targets
  • Manage communication with factory partners based in Asia

RECOMMENDED POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree in industrial design, Engineering, Textiles, or equivalent experience

  • 10+ Years of experience developing materials, hardware, cut and sew and/or welded bags, packs or luggage with offshore factory partners required
  • Strong knowledge of material development, cut and sew and welded bag construction, and various molding techniques
  • Familiarity with textile and bags test methods and standards
  • Competency in MS Office Programs (PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)
  • Experience with Adobe Illustrator, CAD software, or PLM systems is a plus
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and be a solid collaborator
  • Opportunity for international travel (to Asia) up to 2 weeks per year

Benefits and Salary (CO):

This is an on-site position based in our Longmont, CO office. The typical work hours for this position are 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Base salary range for this position is $80,000 - $120,000.
