General Summary:
The Senior Procurement Analyst partners with internal stakeholders (i.e., Procurement Managers, Category Managers, etc., on the strategic procurement process to develop, implement, and continuously improve spend management and e-procurement tools, processes, and systems. The Procurement Sr. Analyst in this role is responsible for, among other things, developing, implementing, and refining how Dollar General: (i) monitors, tracks, and manages procurement spend over time; (ii) leverages eRFX (e.g., RFI, RFP, RFQ) in its end-to-send strategic procurement process to drive smooth e-procurement events resulting in significant financial savings for the organization.
The Senior Procurement Analyst is responsible for supporting the Procurement Managers/Sr. Director in developing a priority list of high-spend and high-value procurement projects to drive improved costing through the procurement pipeline, backed by analytical tools (e.g., eRFQs) and aggressive outreach to internal stakeholders, specifically those people driving strategic procurement and/or spot buying activities.
Spend analytics
- Synthesize and present to business leaders analyses on product and category-level spend data; including market research and, commodity index data, and pricing trends by category
- Develop fact-based recommendations on ideal timing and extent of e-sourcing events, staggering of events, etc. based on market conditions and cost / spend trends
- Analyze the supply market, global supplier landscape in partnership with business or global sourcing stakeholders to identify potential new vendors to contact, qualify for sourcing events; with the goal of driving cost improvements while maintaining or improving quality
- Conduct deep dives into specified categories of spend that might uncover insights related to sourcing event / bid readiness (e.g., eRFP) in light of market conditions
- Maintain repository of category and SKU-level spend information including COGS, funding, etc.; evaluate trends over time
- Support Category Management team and Procurement Analyst as needed; while upholding internal and external policies, regulations and laws.
eRFX Project Execution
- With supervision from the Procurement Manager, optimal e-procurement strategies and events based on category manager and market insights.
- Pressure-test detailed eRFX templates developed by Procurement Analyst and tailored to category strategy before going live on selected event platform (e.g., Coupa, Ariba).
- Follow-up with category managers to collect any missing specs or baseline cost, volume, spend, etc. information critical to include in eRFX
- Develop a supplier communications plan, coach category managers and cross-functional stakeholders to better understand and articulate (e.g., to suppliers) the use of eRFX tools and systems during live or multi-stage sourcing events
- Conduct bid analysis and scenarios based on cost-component or product level vendor bids to maximize financial benefit or meet business stakeholder objectives for the category
- Analyze and quantify financial benefit / tradeoffs for Dollar General as the outcome of live or multi-round eRFX events
- Help advance implementation of cost-saving initiatives for categories; update product spend libraries and spend trackers as appropriate.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Comfortable with a broad range of research tools and technologies, analytics, and detailed financial analyses and modeling skills
- Proficiency with scenario analysis and synthesis of scenario-based / what-if modeling
- Deep knowledge of the full procurement life cycle and value chain
- Expertise with eRFX tools like Ariba and Coupa
- Ability to multitask, gather data from multiple sources, prioritize, and manage/manipulate data
- Ability to think analytically/spatially and make assumptions/recommendations based on limited information and dynamic, complex data sources such as market indices and commodity reports
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, stay organized, and deliver quality deliverables
- Strong communication, interpersonal skills in managing various internal stakeholders, cultural dynamics and effectively interfacing with multiple levels within the organization
- Must be a dedicated team player, capable of working independently, and self-motivated.
Work Experience &/or Education
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, operations, or related disciplines required
- 2-3+ years of technical / financial analysis experience required, prior experience in sourcing or procurement a plus
- Familiarity and comfort with end-to-end sourcing process and value chain required; retail industry experience preferred
- Prior experience with eRFX tools and platforms strongly preferred (e.g., Coupa, Ariba, Jaggaer)
