Senior Process Engineer

The Sr. Process Engineer plans and manages capital growth, maintenance, and process-related improvement projects associated with US Silica operations. The location for this role is in Nevada or in the Northwest region such as Nevada, Utah, Northern, CA or Denver, CO area.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Plan and safely execute multiple assigned capital projects through management of all components of the project from scope development, engineering, construction, and cost control, through commissioning, training, operation and documentation.
  • Identify and evaluate productivity and cost improvements for US Silica operations and work with the CI/operations team to implement those that result in improved process yield, higher throughput, improved operating efficiencies, recognizable cost savings, and best practices. 
  • Track and monitor key productivity metrics to ensure the plant operates per design conditions, projects deliver on forecast goals/expectations and to help identify further opportunities.
  • Document work in a structured manner to ensure Change Management is captured and conveyed in updated operating procedures, drawings, etc. Capture Best Practices so that they can be shared and implemented across sites.
  • Ensure that all plant upgrades and installations of equipment are properly engineered to fully integrate within existing sites and achieve designed functionality.
  • Work with operating sites to define and assess the mechanical integrity of process equipment and infrastructure to develop a replacement timeline for capital budgeting.
  • Identify and respond to opportunities to improve safety, environmental compliance, throughput, quality, costs, housekeeping, and employee commitment. 
  • Assist in prioritization of improvement needs while developing and implementing improvements.

Required Education, Experience, and Skills: 

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience should include a minimum of 5 years of project management or process improvement experience in an engineering and/or leadership capacity
  • Must have a demonstrated record of accomplishment in a manufacturing culture focused on safety, reliability, and process improvement
  • Ability to interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, engineering drawings, and procedure manuals and write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization
  • Develop strategies to achieve organizational goals; Understand organization’s strengths & weaknesses; Analyze market and competition; Identify external threats and opportunities.
  • Use feedback to modify designs and generate creative solutions.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have general knowledge of Spreadsheet and Word Processing software; Process simulation software; Project Management software; Accounting software; Order processing systems; Contact Management systems; Internet software; Inventory software; Manufacturing software.
  • Follow all statutory, regulatory, and organizational procedures to protect the environment from hazardous waste exposure.
  • Follow all Federal and State Safety Regulations, and company safety policies/procedures; Report potentially unsafe conditions; Aid in correcting unsafe conditions; Use equipment and materials properly.
  • Ideally experience will include metals/non-metals mining industrial minerals processing or continuous process manufacturing where dry powders were processed and handled, as well as experience with process modeling, instrumentation systems/programs.
